Every child has their own learning and adaptation curve, and parents should allow their children to adapt at their own pace. Our 1 year old son has never used a bottle or a pacifier, and doesnt suck his thumb that much either. However, he looks for comfort in other ways, like by being clingy to his parents. Every child is unique. At age 18, no one will care whether they started walking at 9 months or 2 years, or whether they used a pacifier till age 3 or bottle till age 5.

I agree it won't matter at age 18 but healthy habits stay with your child for life.
My friend has a daughter that sucked her thumb until 4. She wished she stopped earlier because it harder change behavior when she was older.
My older daughter bites her nails. I can let her but it's not a good habit. She is not going to chew them for the rest of her life but why sustain something that not recommended altogether.

I'm in my 20s and I still bite my nails. It's a very very very tough habit to break.
I wouldn't say anything cos it's none of my business and yes my kids have had their bottles until about 3-4 but only at nights and pacifers too (dummys)
But I will say something when I say these Pakistani people at wedding functions giving their babies/toddlers fizzy coke/lemonade in their bottles. That makes me so mad! What are they doing to their poor teeth and gums?
