$2 to £1 "very soon".

Great for us, all stuff of amazon.com is effectively half price for us now. Good time to take a holiday/shop-a-fon as mentioned.

Just felt like gloating, you know, being the mother country and all that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: $2 to £1 "very soon".

Is the dollar weakening because Iran has started (or will start) selling oil in Euros rather in Dollars (Something Iraq did just before it got invaded)?

Re: $2 to £1 "very soon".

Gone past the $2 barrier.

Here I go to amazon.com, credit card in hand.

Re: $2 to £1 "very soon".

Re: $2 to £1 "very soon".

Why gloat? This is a disaster for British industry... do you know how hard it is to export to the USA now?

Re: $2 to £1 "very soon".

^exactly, and larger profit for american companies.

Re: $2 to £1 "very soon".

My concern is only with online shopping prices. This is great news.

If Joe Bloggs in the Black country loses business, I dont care. Cheap electronics, cheap books, cheap all sorts. Cheap holidays too I presume.

Re: $2 to £1 "very soon".

^yeah i know. joe bloggs is an interesting brand though and i'm sure some will not have known the pak connection to it.
......................................................

i think the uk is giving up too easily on manufacturing. its all good at the moment but the strong pound is leading too many businesses to cheaper shores. a year or so back it was 1gpb:1.57usd, thats a massive shift. this will have knock on effects. average joe public buying a few items from abroad is not a problem, but when the lure similar to this is there businesses will too be buying from abroad.

Re: $2 to £1 "very soon".

errmmm what were we buying from the UK that we won't now?

Re: $2 to £1 "very soon".

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! im going to england next month, visiting my parents.I was pretty happy with the 2 thousand dollars in spending money im going to take but this just totally depresses me!!on the other hand my mum is jumping for joy she's sending some money over to get a couple of armani watches i saw on the net for her to gift on someones wedding!!!!she getting a bargain!

Re: $2 to £1 "very soon".

is the question on what US buys from UK? It ranks 6th in terms of the countries US imports most from, behind China, Canda, Germany, Japan, and Mexico

or is the question what US buys from Uk that it would stop/decrease buying? because that iis a more complicated answer.

although UK investment in US will further increase due to the strength of pound compared to US. already UK is the leading investor in US.

Re: $2 to £1 "very soon".

We like to take care of them. :p
