The skeleton stops growing at around age 25, so technically you have till around then to gain height or length. I gained half an inch around 21 so its possible, but I dont think I did anything in particular to gain that half inch.
You could have come up with a better title....Its quite misleading.
As for growing taller, I hit six during my mid teens and everyone expected me to grow two or three more inches but that never happened...so If you are in your twenties then I say 5 10 is all you have got. Take care of it :-)
Growth plates stop growing in your late teens. The only way you can temporarily strech yourself for a few minutes is by hanging on monkey bars and then your body goes back to its original size. You can always put in a thicker sole in your shoes : )

I'm 5'10 and I really badly want/need to be 6 feet. Otherwise, in two years time, I'll be the midget of my family.

Actually its about (on average) 25 years of age. They are your epiphyseal cartilage plates which are the zones of growth (between the shaft of the bone and the articular ends). The cartilage cells multiply and then ossify afterwards. The amount of the substance (of the cartilage) that has multiplied gives a person their height/length.
It's all genetics baby....Come to Pakiland, we're working on those midget genes these days...who knows, it mite be yor lucky day.
