$2.32

That’s what I paid for a gallon of gas yesterday evening at the exxon station near my house in mill valley, CA.

The “blood for oil” conspiracy doesn’t seem to be holding water.

$1.71 per gallon here.

Every time I fret about the price of gas I am calmed by the thought of it being yet another precursor to a 1-term president.

I hear those OPEC terrorist announced cuts by million barrels

Another great thing about the price of gas. When the US has a president who isn't beholden to oil interests, the US can develop renewable resources and leave OPEC without the cash flow to fund their dubious enterprises.

dubious enterprises? you mean like Halliburton;) But anyway, i guess US going to other oil sources would be good for both the US and mideast oil rich states. US would get alternate sources, and mideast would get multiple alternate buyers, rather than one big buyer.

And stu, Im not going to debate the 'oil for blood conspiracy' but fact is, Iraq is not at a high enough production level as yet, to benefit america anyway. Its gonna take a while to develop all the destroyed/damaged oil wells and refineries. So the returns wont be immediate.

gas

1.79 $ here, but I don;t complain.... when I was in Germany, the gas was, the cheapest, 1.10 E / litre -- something like 5 $ a gallon or so

Dubious enterprises like allowing the few to live like "royalty" while supressing the many and not providing them education or an environment for the people and economies to prosper. Less oil money would mean less funds available to fund madrassas and terrorists. Turning to renewable resources would also benefit environment. There would be less reason for the US to be involved in the ME as the area would lose most of its importance in global affairs. (That ought to make everyone happy). Trade deficit would narrow. US economy wouldn't hinge on the cycles of ME violence. I'd like to see gas at $4 this summer.

Not me, pal. Although the amerikans deserve to be paying 4 $ a gallon for gas, most of us cannot afford it... the only people who'd be able to use their vehicles more than once a week are those who live like royalty, as you said -- the bourgeois, the business-owners, the business men, etc. Those who get great ammounts of money while doing nothing, sitting around in their big, air-conditioned offices and playing solitarie... when the rest of us have to slave away most of the day to earn only slightly more than enough to survive -- so little, that if gas prices rose more than a dollar, alot of us would be taking public transportation to crappy jobs.

besides....

and besides... if it did get up to 4/gallon, the gas companies, like texaco, would begin to loose profit, since most people would probably turn to public transportation or car pools.... and they'd force the US government to invade another middle eastern country.

^ The only thing more ineffectual than communism is your defense of it.

I'm dying to know what you slave away at. Seriously, what do you do?

i wouldn't be surprised if the gasoline price reached 3 bucks per gallon by the end of 2004!

Okay, so if the war was not about the black gold, was not about WMD's, was not about brining democracy(since we all know we dont want to bring true democracy because that would only bring anti-Americans in the government ), was not about eliminating terrorism(according to CIA, no links found b/w Al-Qaeda and Iraq), then what was the purpose of going to war with Iraq. It's sure not about a brutal dictator, the world is filled with such dictators in countries like Uzbiskistan, Saudi Arabia, Congo, Venez...., etc.
Anyone, want to explain why we are spending about four billion dollars a month, when people are robbing banks to pay for their medical bills. When social security is about to go bankrupt. Also no America bashing intended.

Oh. OKAY. Thanks for the clarification. No offense taken.

I'll write more later. Right now I've got to take my Smith & Wesson down to the corner convenience store so I can "withdraw" enough money to go to the dentist. ... Darn .... Where's that d*mn ski mask?

that's a hell of a lot for gas. what good is it occupying a middle east country and having oil barons as vice-presidents if the oil price is so high? good for nothing SOBs.

I heard on radio it will go up to about $3.00 by summer. Right now we are at $1.89 for the middle one...in the DC metro area.

Seems pretty good still in the Mid-East.. I went to Bahrain last week for some R&R and a break from corporate slavery ... found that petrol there costs less than half the price of drinking water - about 25 US cents for a litre.

I work for NeoGen, which is owned by Palaski Metal. I get the orders and load the metal into crates, seal them, etc. I work in a warehouse... and it's the worst job I've ever had, but, the pay is better than at some stupid restaurant or gas station.
