West Indies 264/3 (87.0 ov)
5.15pm It’s stumps, and it’s the end of an excellent day for West Indies. Kraigg Brathwaite’s looked utterly immovable, and his partnerships with Chris Gayle and Darren Bravo have moved the home side to a strong position either side of a mini-wobble just after lunch. We’ll have an early start tomorrow at 9.15 am.
While Bangladesh’s two debutant spinners have looked like they belong at this level, their overall bowling effort has lacked consistency. Still, 264 for 3 means Bangladesh can still come back into the game if they take a clump of wickets in the morning session, but they’ll have to bowl exceptionally, or West Indies will have to bat pretty poorly, for that to happen. Join us tomorrow morning for the second day’s play. Till then, it’s ta ta from me, Alagappan, Gopi and Chandan.
Mark: “If I were a West Indian I would be delighted with the day and, particularly with Brathwaite’s innings: he is doing just what his side needs an opening batsman to do and is setting the base for a big acceleration tomorrow.”
