I wouldnt play Faisal Iqbal, instead introduce a new player. Junaid or Sami?
I agree. No Faisal Iqbal please. Try a new bat Afaq Raheem or Mohammad Ayub instead.
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
OK. Here is my playing 11 for first game
Taufeeq Umer M. Hafeez Asad Shafiq Azhar Ali Faisal Iqbal Younus Khan Adnan Akmal M. Ajmal Abdur Rehman Umar Gul Junaid Khan
How is this order even possible? Without Misbah, Younus Khan has to bat at #4. Asad Shafiq maybe #5. #6. Will be either Faisal Iqbal or Mohammad Ayub.
I think the 2nd seamer will be most likely Cheema not Junaid Khan. It will be a HUGE mistake if they play Sami as the 2nd seamer.

my list was not in batting order. how can one send Ajmal above rehman and gul? :)
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
Junaid or Sami?
They should send uncle Rana to join the party, the awesome pace attack of M Sami, Junaid and Rana.
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
** Sri Lanka win the toss and will have a bat **
Mahela Jayawardene: "Pretty good wicket, pretty dry as well, we will look to put the runs on the board." Chanaka Welegedara woke up with a sore shoulder, informs Mahela, and Nuwan Pradeep will take his place.
Mohammad Hafeez, leading Pakistan in place of the banned Misbah-ul-Haq: "Great opportunity for me to represent my country at the highest level. We have done a great job in Tests. There should be something in this wicket for the pace bowlers early on." **Junaid Khan is the second quick alongside Umar Gul. Misbah's ban means a Pakistan debut for 32-year old Mohammad Ayub, after 93 first-class games
***9.40 am* Former Sri Lanka batsman Russell Arnold calls the pitch "unusual" for Galle. He says it looks nice and hard, the ball will come nice and even for the first three days, and it will start turning later on. It rained in the morning. *Arnold calls the first 10-15 overs very crucial, after which it should be a batsman's day.

Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
Dilshan and Paranavitana to open for Sri Lanka. Umar Gul has the new ball. Three slips, gully, debutant at backward point
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
10.6
Umar Gul to Paranavitana, no run, Gul puts in some effort into this one dug in back of a length, jags into Para who cannot defend, gets something on it and the keeper snaps it up, was it bat, was it thigh pad, Pakistan and umpire Gould differ, Pakistan are right, thin inside edge, into thigh pad, and straight to Adnan Akmal, there is really no justice in the world, Mr Gul, and no DRS
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
15.5 Ajmal has struck in his first over, after being denied two balls ago, Para has not looked very comfortable against spin this morning, he has looked to charge out at Hafeez as well, tries the same against Ajmal, beaten completely by the flight and turn, and Adnan will not do an Azhar Ali, he completes the stumping 63/1
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
20.5
Abdur Rehman to Dilshan, 1 run, he is looking to get after Rehman, tries to charge out and go with the spin past mid off, shouts of 'catch' as Rehman goes leaping to his left, cannot get to it, not a chance really, Gul fails to stop it cleanly at mid off
21.2
Saeed Ajmal to Dilshan, no run, loud appeal for lbw, leg stump visible as Dilshan shuffles too far across, hit on middle and leg, more middle, that is a very close shout, there was turn on the ball, but could not say for sure it was missing leg
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
25.3
Saeed Ajmal to Sangakkara, FOUR, did that carry? very thick edge from Sanga.as he looks to cut a quicker one, it flies to Younis Khan's right at slip, he cannot get down in time, it was just rushing along too fast really
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
End of over 27 (1 run) Sri Lanka 94/1 [TABLE]
KC Sangakkara
12* (32b 2x4)

56* (73b 6x4 1x6)

Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
Looks like a long 1 1/2 days in the field for Pakistan
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
even more than that may b 2 and half or 3 . . .
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
even more than that may b 2 and half or 3 . . .
i think they'll score somewhere close to 450-500 and then let Herath and R.a.n.d.i.v do the rest
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
even more than that may b 2 and half or 3 . . .
Why 2 and half or 3 days? That would be playing too long. I think SL would declare at 650+ by tomorrow an hour before end of play and then would try to take one or two wickets of this management’s nepotism team by end of the play.
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
Looks like Sangakara would score 200 plus easily.
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
Doesnt look like there is much in the pitch to help the bowlers. Hope our batsmen realise that and respond accordingly.
Re: 1st Test: Sri Lanka v Pakistan at Galle, Jun 22-26, 2012
What I remember, Sangakara has highest number of double centuries after Bradman and Lara and with such pathetic bowling attack, it is very likely that he would add one more double century to his total.
