Nice comments by waqar and notably Clive lloyd..
he says" Well this young pakistani team has played brilliantly and i m sure you ill hear about these pakistai youngsters a lot in future"
well said Mr. Lloyd
Like is aid before..
I m personally proud of the zest and hunger shown by pakistani team!
barring Couple of mistakes and couple of unlucy incidents!
Well done PAKISTAN :k:
Even though Pakistan lost the match they should be proud of the way they played. A lot of positivies from this match, notably, Faisal and Umer and the bowling of the two old hands Shoaib and Saqlain.
Waqar should realise his mistake of not playing Kaneria and sending Razzaq to bat at number 3.
Overall, Well played Pakistan and go get them in the next two matches, you can do it.
Exactly Ehsan bhai, I wouldnt consider this a loss it’s rather a huge win. A raising high from a total down. :k:
Well done.
Two neg. points here: 1. I still see Waqar as the “losing Captain”
2. Heck is there no way to get them run for every single ball played? Fielding sucks totally!
I do agree with the fact that there are lots of youngsters in this pakistani side ... they fought hard (Specially bowlers) ......... But still i want to say that batsmans failed to show some charectar ......
Just now i watched the wickets and i feel that 4 to 5 batsmans got out playing a rash shots ... playing positively is one thing and getting out playing rash shot is other ..
So I feel that if paki batsmans can show some restrain and if one batsman takes anchor role (Dravid kind of role) ...... Pakistani bowling is always good ... they have a good chance to win the next match and the serise .........
Another almost won match lost by the Pakistani batsman, the middle order is all to blame for this, unlike yesterday's start by Imran Nazir and Taufeeq Umar, today our batsman were throwing their wickets away. Somedays they play like the best team in the world and the next day they will loosed badly. I was so much confident Pakistan was going to win this match before the day started. Younis Khan played badly out there, he was lucky enough to add 10 more runs to his score because he was dropped twice by Mark Waugh, and Gilchrist almost missed a stumping. Very bad display by Younis, Faisal batted well and Taufeeq was brilliant.
Like I said before Pakistan should have won this match.
Overall the result is alot better than what I thought it would be in the begining of the day 1.
A great comeback from the batsman in the first inning and another comeback from the bowlers in 2nd inning.
Pakistan can still win the next match. Our bowlers are looking in good shape, Kaneria needs to be brought in place of Sami, Shoaib is dangerous and he will get more fierce as the series goes on.
I would like the same batting lineup for the next match unless Saeed and Youhana would like to comeback than they could just replace Nazir and Mizbah.
Overall good result, but Pakistan should have won this match. Middle order couldn't get the job done plus a long tail couldn't score.
My Lineup for the next match.
Taufeeq Umar
Imran Nazir
Mizbah-ul-Haq
Faisal Iqbal
Younis Khan
Rashid Latif
Abdul Razzaq
Waqar Younis
Saqlain Mushtaq
Shoaib Akhtar
Danish Kaneria
What really let us down in this match was the tailenders. I agree that they are not supposed to score big runs but their job is to go up there and support the specialist batsman, it happend in both innings where there was one batsman left on one side and the other tailenders were throwing their wickets away. In the first inning Rashid was looking in such great form but Waqar, Saqlain, Shaoib all threw their wickets away.
And what pathetic display by Saqlain and Waqar batting, why did they play those shots, they had all that time to win the match, they should have just stayed their and supported Faisal who was looking go througout the innings.
Congratulations to the Australian Team and specially to the Man of the Match Shane Warne. What a great player !! The way he keeps coming at you despite being hammered by the batsmen again and again is really admirable.
Isn't it Ironic that the world's best ever spinner had never taken 10 wickets in a single test match(until this test) in the subcontinent ? He came very close to it in Karachi in 1994 in similar situations but Luck was with pakistan that day.
I would say PAK would have won this match if the captain had acted sensibly, I just don’t get it why Waqar did not played Danish and why did he sent Razaq at #3?
The only reason we lost this match cuz of Waqar.
But over all well played PAK and they can still get back in the series. I hope PAK wins one of the upcoming matches and level the series or win both of em to take the series 2-1 :k:
I didn't see today's play because when I woke up it was already over. We had a good chance to win but in the end we just didn't have enough batting quality of the highest order. Players like Imran Nazir, Younis KhanFaisal Iqbal etc have plenty of qualities, and are more than capable of useful cameo knocks, but when it comes to winning matches you need at least a couple of gold standard players who can hit the big hundreds and WIN test matches. Our two top guys have been Yousuf Youhanna and Inzimam over the last few years and we could have done with them here.
Youhanna's average is 45+ and Inzimam's is close to 50. There's no substitute for that sort of class. Even so, considering the strength of the team we put out the performance was pretty damn good. At least the Aussies knew they had been in a match. And Shoaib's spell on Saturday was one of the most electric in history. The guy's unplayable when he's on song.
And Taufeeq looks like a focused and determined player. Hope he carries on like that.
sorry i didn't get back to you earlier about broadcasting the match, I have been very busy last couple of days In fact I haven't even read these posts yet today. I have a tv out, but my internet access is limited at the moment so i doubt I would be able to do it anyway. Will be moving to ADSL sometime in the future so will look into it then.
Incidentally, anyone who lives in Europe, I recommend subscribing to ARY Digital. They show almost all of Pakistan's cricket so it's well worth it for that alone.

May be I am a sore loser...I don't like losing a match after getting so close...I am disappointed...and I am sad...

Jeeray yaar same here, I didn't even feel like going to work. Am sitting here at work I don't feel like working...wonder when this will be over :(
I am happy with the team efforts but I am real mad at Waqar that guy is acting so stupid someone needs to remind him of his mistakes.
**I still can not believe that Pakistan lost this match. It was so easy, let me tell you guys pick 11 people from Karachi or Lahore they willl make 137 runs against Australia. Let me make it more clear, pick 7 people from GUP SHUP, they will make 137 runs against Australia. Pakistan has reminded us again that they are UNPREDICTIBLE.
you are right about Waqar..his double digit IQ is the main reason for our loss!!
[/QUOTE]
Well its all good but I hope he doesn't repeat these mistakes in the 2nd test. Lets look forward to the 2nd test and lets hope Shoaib rips the aussies once more to give our batsmen and our team another chance. I am hoping this time Waqar picks Danish and drops Sami.
I would stick with the same team excpet drop Sami and pick Danish. I think with Shoaib, Saqlain and Danish aussies will be struggling for sure.

Yar Fantastic its not that easy, the pitch, the bowler, the preasure when all this comes in its hard to concentrate and play. Plus Younis was playing well I am sure Younis and Faisla Iqbal would have done the job but it was bad luck that Younis was given out when he was not out. I read that even on cric info.
Faisal Iqbal tried hard but the other end kept losing the wickets he could not do anything all he needed was a support. Infect waqar himself should have kept his head down when he came in, Saqi should have let Faisal do the job and save the other end instead he try to go after the aussie bowlers.
I would still not call this a pathetic performance. I think our team did a good job all I am complaining about the captain he needs to think and act properly.
i was surprised to see everyone here was so excited like pakistan will win for sure..lol
even though they could have easily scored 137..i just knew they will find a way to blew it...like always
