Incidentally, there is no difference in the kind of balls he is facing, but coming in at number 3 in test matches (in this one particular) requires to play the role of an established batsman (unless of course, the player is being sent as a night watchman) whereas at number 5/6 you play the role of an alrounder, i.e., ball-ticker.
