for the performance of our team. It certainly proves that our lower order has the capability to stay around and knock the opposition bowler over when they show composure and not start hitting out.
Its really great to see this test drawn as most of us including myself had lost all hope by end of 2nd day as Viru & company were looking very tall but our Danny boy didn’t give up and bowled almost continuously and got us what we wanted i.e. all Indian wickets.
Its really important to not consider our team as full strength yet because it was our batmsen who brought this drawn (I take it as victory) to us… had it been on our bowler to get all Indian wickets again we’d have been trouble.
In the end, we took the match out of their bag, :k:
Drop Taufeeq, Younis Khan and Salman Butt (to tell him his seat is not granted)
Bring in Yasir Hameed, Shaoib Malik and Afridi. If coach/Inzi think they may try Arshad instead of Rana next test. That'll be wholesale changes though :(
I think the credit goes to Sachin as well as he slowed down the runrate on third day in pursuit of his record breaking hundred and that allowed Pakistan to apply pressure and gain some confidence.
Especially after he (BUTT) dropped a simple catch offered by Gauthum Gambir off of Kaneria in the second innings…his fielding sucks even more then his batting technique…
Regardless of the outcome of the match, the fact remains that our top 3 are PATHETIC. Not just in batting but in fielding as well. I would like to see Younis gone, same with Taufeeq. Maybe give Butt one last chance because remember he got that century in Kolkata not too long ago. As for spinning option, I think Afridi will be just as good as Arshad. Indians are more uncomfortable against leg spin anyway.
They fought hard and deserve all the credit in the world for a great performance.
NExt match, I would drop one of the openors, Younis Khan and Razzaq and play Malik, Yassir and Arshad Khan.
Razzaqs battting today was mind blowing, but he bowling is'nt as dangerous as Ranas so Iwould expect that Rana will stay on while Razzaq will have to exit. We will definitly need Arshad Khan for the next match as that pitch heavily favours spinners.
I would like ot make room for Afridi on the team, but I doubt that his spin will bother the Indians much in a test match and I think its better to go with a real batsman at the top (Yassir) , than play Afridi.
How can you kick Younis out.. hain ji? Thori tau respect dein apnay Vice Captain ko app log. Hadd hai. He top scored in Aus test series… ssshhh…
Anyway, Butt saheb is over due for a nice game of musical chairs. I’d like to see Afridi and Malik in the playing line up… but seems like Yasir will get he final nod.
I don't think changing the players everytime will do any good...every player at times is a deliverer or a non-deliverer...its the total attitude of the team and players towards a certian situation at a given time...
Its a 5 day match (unlimited number of overs). If at the end of the fifth day either of the teams arent finished with their batting, the match is drawn. So in a way a test match is a *test *of the players’ endurance of how long they can stay on the pitch before giving in.
