and teams going out. CAnnot understand about the bad light as lights are turned on. Think some thing to do with the shadows
Re: 1st Test Pak vs Eng - 2010 in Eng -Nottingham - July 29-Aug 2
Bad light stopped play ... Pak 147 - 9 ...
Another 8 required ... Great batting by tail-enders specially Gul who is still batting on 30 ...
Lets hope ... !
Re: 1st Test Pak vs Eng - 2010 in Eng -Nottingham - July 29-Aug 2
I think we should play Gul as a batsmen. Who needs two Y's?
Re: 1st Test Pak vs Eng - 2010 in Eng -Nottingham - July 29-Aug 2
I guess when we expect Pakistan to do well, they fail. When we give up on them, they find a way to gain some respect and succeed. Weird
I want Pakistan to have to follow on - and here's my reasoning.
If we do avoid the follow on, we'll still be all out with close to 200 in deficit. That means England will have to score about 125 more runs to pretty much seal a win. I do not see Pakistan scoring more than 250 in the 'FOURTH' innings of a test match.
However, I see more (very little, but definitely more than the scenario above) chances of Pakistan scoring 350-400 after being forced to follow on. (Remember, I am saying chances, not belief that they can do it). This would force England to chase about 170-200 runs and THEN we can hope that our bowlers can do their magic.
So, I am praying for them to get all out before the follow on, and then for A Struass to enforce the follow on!
Dear sincere fan of Pakistan Cricket Team.
Please check the forecast. If Pakistan is sent in again tomorrow morning, with overnight rain and mainly cloudy conditions we are looking at innings defeat. But if we fail to prevent a follow-on, chances are that Pakistan bowlers get the best out of the conditions and bowl them within 100 runs. Then Pakistan batsmen can do their magic to get out for 150.
So a 100-150 defeat is better than an innings defeat. IMHO.
bhaioo, kahay ko argue kar rhay ho. Even If the last wicket is dismissed without scoring the required 8 runs, England likely will not enforce the follow on. They will bat to give a required mammoth target of 500 to Pakistan.

The only reason we thought Pak will do well is the second test against a weak Aus side. But why that optimism? Pak lost first test, and almost lost the second test as well. All because of the batting line up.
And even though this batting line up failed miserably against Aus, the same people are STILL present against England.
So where is the ray of hope? Why did we expect Pak to win? Bowlers alone can not win a match all the time. The batting should be able to make at least 200 runs in an inning to win.
Pak batting should play test matches as if its a 20-20 match. They are likely to score more runs that way.
That also means Afridi should be asked to come back and play tests in T20 fashion, no temperament needed or expected.
These tail enders are batting better than our middle order batsmen.
ye batsmen parchi par aaye hein.
Re: 1st Test Pak vs Eng - 2010 in Eng -Nottingham - July 29-Aug 2
I am just waiting when people will start blaming Salman Butt for all the ills because that's what happens in Pakistan Cricket.
Re: 1st Test Pak vs Eng - 2010 in Eng -Nottingham - July 29-Aug 2
When a team stoops to such low standards then everyone is blamed.
But I really don't think it is totally Butt's fault.
Success hides many weaknesses. Like when Pak won one test against Aus, thanks to weather and bowlers, every one forgot about the continuously bad performance of the batsmen.
Re: 1st Test Pak vs Eng - 2010 in Eng -Nottingham - July 29-Aug 2
what the f do we have batsmen for ? amir and gul played better than the openers
Re: 1st Test Pak vs Eng - 2010 in Eng -Nottingham - July 29-Aug 2
I can only hope that if we lose this...I seriously want to see some changes in the batting line up...as well as someone else in kaneria's place! akmal and malik should be shown the door! bring some more new talent in! though I still support butt and his captaincy, I think you have to give him some time to develop as a captain! but its sad that he is already feeling the pressure and his performance has definitely been affected after captaincy!
Re: 1st Test Pak vs Eng - 2010 in Eng -Nottingham - July 29-Aug 2
What about Butt batting? ...you know once he loss form .lose for whole series ,this is how his batting is....and All guys having batting averages less than 35 even after palying more than 30 test matches(Butt,Imran,Kamran,Malik)How could you expect this team will keep winning test matches....Test matches are not joke

I agree. England will not enforce the follow-on. They would not want to bat 4th on this wicket for sure and I'm sure Pakistan will not be able to make more than 200-250 in the second innings either. This is another test match lost by Kamran Akmal for Pakistan. But he has the confidence of the captain and he himself if the vice-captain. So no dropping him for sure.

He even fooled me, I thought he had overcome his "catch me in the slips" habit, but in his last two innings with swinging ball it looks like the old salman again. kmran and Umar akmal along with umar amin need to be shown the door.
Azhar Ali is the only good thing which has come out of the tour so far.
Re: 1st Test Pak vs Eng - 2010 in Eng -Nottingham - July 29-Aug 2
three fours by Gul and Pakistan have saved the follow on. SHAME ON OUR ESTABLISHED BATSMEN. LANAT HAI UNN PER.
