Younis 200 in 290 balls is a brilliant innings.

Also well played Asad shafiq for his maiden test century. hopefully the start of a long and fruitful career for Pakistan.

The difference is Umar Akmal has got talent, Asad shafiq has got talent and brain. Big difference.

Some times having brain fires back in pk (specially when u dont have much backing in the team) u know the consequences of getting out cheaply so u r some time over conciouous / low in confidence hence loose ur place.

This is Younis’s 3rd double hundred in tests (infact one of them is a triple, 313 vs SLA at Karachi in 2009)

Umar Akmal may be more talented, but he lacks application and determination. He's a bit in the Afridi mould. Plays reckless shots and gets out.

agree Umar lacks test temperament big time but he is still only 21. Hopefully he can overcome this deficiency soon.

Asad has far bigger technical deficiencies compared to UA, the way he has handled short pitched balls from 130 KMPH medium pacers of BD on the dead tracks of BD is no way near the way near with the solidity with which UA plays short ball....He also is weak out side his off stump and tries to feel the ball way too often very tentatively and strong bowling attacks will make him struggle a lot more than they will UA.

Asad's tag of better temperament (compared to UA) is partially being earned by him with the fact that he has not played against the quality of bowling that UA faced and neither did he batted in conditions as difficult as UA did in first few tests. Had Umar gotten the chances that Asad has to bat against SA in UAE, Bat against NZ in NZ, Bat against SL in UAE and BD in BD, he would have made great use of the dead tracks and scored the runs that would have shut the critics who question his temperament. But UA was deprived off those chance.

Umar scored Century against NZ in NZ …Played well in Australia and England …Against quality bowling attack

Umar should be in the test team …Where he will learn more Insha Allah

I would change the rules slightly for the second game and allow Pak only one innings or BD 3 innings (whichever option they are happier with).
