^ He is good a part time bowler for a batsman, not as a specialist. Abhi halaat itne bhi kharaab nahe huay ke hafeez jaise namoonay specialist bowler ke thor par khailain.

Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
No matter how much you hate Hafeez but we MUST play him in ODI's because Malik can't bowl anymore. Hafeez keeps it very tight and he will be pretty handy bowler and he should be instructed to play aggressively otherwise he will waste at least 20-30 balls every match.
Kamran Akmal hasn't done much with the bat while opening (except one match), he scored 49 runs in 6 ODI's as opener, so let's open with Hafeez and Salman for the first game.
My lineup:
Salman
Hafeez
Malik
Inzamam
Yohanna
Akmal
Razzaq
Afridi
Rana
Sami
Rao/Nazir
Even though Hafeez will waste an opener's spot but if Bob can instruct him to play aggressively and play his shots it will work out well in the end because we have Rana playing at 10 who is more than capable of some free hitting and middle order is secure with Yohanna, Inzi and Razzaq and good late order batsmen in Afridi and Akmal.
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
^ No Younis??
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
after younis khan's heroics in the test series, only a fool would not start with him
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
I supported Younis Khan when everyone wanted him out of the team for good, he is a very good TEST batsman but we need a sixth bowling option, so we have to exclude Younis unless you wanna drop Malik or play Younis as an opener instead of Salman Butt or if you want to play him as a Keeper??????
We desperately need 6th bowling option and Akmal is doing a good job as a keeper and batsman, we do need 3 specialist bowlers as well.........NOW tell me where are you gonna fit Younis Khan?????
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
If this is true then we are surely going to play the lineup i mentioned above:
Unwell Younis Khan doubtful for Cochin ODI
From our correspondent
COCHIN, India: Younis Khan, who plundered scores of 267 and 84 not out in Pakistan’s Test victory in Bangalore and totalled 508 runs at 101.60 in the Test series, is running high fever and there is concern if he would be fit in time for the first One-day International here on Saturday (tomorrow).
Manager Saleem Altaf said Younis had been running a high temperature of around 102 and 103 since Wednesday and soon after the team reached the city this afternoon, he was taken to hospital for tests.
"Today he was again running a temperature and we are concerned and want to know what is wrong with him. The temperature goes down and then rises again," he said.
Younis himself was clearly weak from the fever but said he was confident he could recover in time for the first one-dayer. "Hopefully the tests results will be known today and after getting medication I should be okay in a day’s time as I’m really looking forward to playing in the first one-dayer," he said.
Younis also didn’t come to the ground in Hyderabad on Wednesday during the practice match and rested at the hotel.
Team sources said Younis had been in high spirits during the dinner hosted by the in-laws of Shoaib Malik at their residence in Hyderabad on Tuesday night but since then had started running temperature. "Perhaps the Hyderabadi dishes didn’t suit him," one of his teammates joked.
The Pakistan vice captain has come in for special praise from the Indian captain Sourav Ganguly on Thursday who wrote in his column that Younis and Virender Sehwag had batted like champions in the Test series. Both of them were the only batsmen to score 500 runs in the three Tests.
"For Pakistan, Younis Khan’s batting was a revelation. He showed tremendous application and was prepared to stay at the wicket," Ganguly wrote. "And Mohammad Sami got better and better with every game," he added.
Altaf said the rest of the players were in fine spirits and had been given a day off on Thursday to relax and unwind.
"We’ll be having nets tomorrow and then it is the start of another tough series for us and hopefully the boys will again show complete application and concentration toward the job," he said.

Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
^^that means malik will play ![]()
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
I think malik was gonna play anyway.
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
Malik was a certainity regardless of Younis’ fitness
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
Though I would differ with Hafeez's inclusion, he is going to play until Malik's bowling is cleared so we will have to live with it and hope he performs.
In my opinion, this team will play tomorrow.
Salman Butt
Kamran Akmal
Shoaib Malik
Inzimam
Yousuf Youhana
Mohammad Hafeez
Abdul Razzaq
Shahid Afridi
Rana Naveed
Mohammad Sami
Danish Kaneria
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
Saby, are you suggesting Afridi at # 8???????????? You can't be serious. Man, on sub-continent wickets he MUST open in ODIs. Sending him at that position in Australia was understandable but not in India. The only way to hit is a new ball on batting surfaces of India.
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
Where is Younis ?
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
ahaan, I see a conspiracy by Malik’s inlaws… they must have given something in food to Younis so he becomes unable to play!
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
He found some semblence of consistency playing down the order since his recall to the team. He has learnt the traits of late order hitting where he can play alongwith Abdul Razzaq and cause havoc. If you send him to open again, you once again are hoping for same trial-and-error method. It is unfair to him when he has settled so nicely down the order, not just in australia but even on subcontinent pitces.
He has been playing on these subcontinent pitches since 1996-1997 and never found a permanent place in the batting order. Even though he has started using some brains while batting, I wont like him to be dismissed after a quick fire 40-50. (He is doing that job quite frequently down the order)
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
Having said that, I have read that Inzimam has hinted that Kamran Akmal will not be used as one day opener anymore so only other options are Afridi and Malik so most likely it will be Afridi who opens tomorrow.

Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
I was just gonna say that…Pakistan is gonna open with Kamran…but I think if Hafeez is gonna play he is gonna open…cuz there is no other place for him. Middle order is already packed with Inzamam, Youhana, Razzaq, Akmal and Malik will be playing at #3..so where would u fit Hafeez. As much as I would hate to see Hafeez play…I think there is no way of stopping him from playing untill Malik is cleared to bowl…

Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
^ why can't Akmal open and Hafeez play in his place?
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
Read my post again. I did not say that Kamran will open. I said that I read in some article that Inzimam hinted about discontinuing with the experiment of Kamran Akmal as opener. So either one of Hafeez, Malik or Afridi will do it.
Re: 1st One-day Pakistan-India @ Kochin - April 2nd (Merged)
I am posting that article here.
