i think afridi shud go ONE DOWN caz when ever he colapse ... the whole team goes down n since i saw BUTT N HAMEED batting. man o man!!!! they both are surely KICK ARSE batsmen .
so whoeva thinks pakis dont got OPPENING PLAYERz >---->> THINK AGAIN CHENDA <<----<
the only thing lacking in the past match was A TRUE FAST BOWLER ..... naveed did his job but SAMI got served n besides i never seen any sort of potential in that dude . if i had the power i wud surely replace him with *** SHABIR AHMED ***. that dude got height which is prety basic n can turn into a big advantage for the bowler n he can swing the ball around.
Raindance lol duuuuuuuuuuuuude u call indian innings a TEAM EFFORT ??? lol i presume u werent wearin ur glasses while readin the SCORE BOARD . i think PAKIZ were just unluky ..... their performance was prety decent no DOUBT !!! it cud be much be better n i m prety hopeful for the next match ... n note this down ** EXPERIENCE COUNT BIG TIME IN CRICKET ** ..... aight now u can compare NAVEED with who ever u were talkin abt :)
i dont think there was anything very wrong in the strategy or team selection....
our openers did well....
so we cant blame the openers this time....
our middle order is the best we can put it....
malik hit an 80 somthing not out in the practice match....
he just got out soon, can happen to anyone....
youhanna seems rusty in this whole tour....
perhaps he needs a kick to wake him up....
inzi, i think, played very well....
hafeez was a bit slow but did well too....
afridi and razzaq failed to stay....
that cud be counted as the only thing that went wrong....
but then again, there do come days when no one clicks....
see what happened to south africa....
i saw the first four wickets fall and not one of them fell on wicket takign balls....
just plain unlucky....
we cant blame a drop catch for losing....
why cud the bowlers not produce another chance????
and i think we did very well to hold them to 280....
I agree. Bringing him to open will be a mistake repeated. Yes he might fire in one match and give us a good start but his semblence of consistency he gained lower down the order will be gone.
I agree with you guys no need to bring Afridi as an opener again, and there is no need to spoil Malik too, He is alright at No.3, Having the world best explosive lower order in cricket I think we should have/return to our basic openers, you dont need make-shifts (K. Akmal). adding him makes an wonderful trio of lower order; A. Razzaq, S. Afridi and K. Akmal. and I think you need to move Hafeez at the top order, you can always make up for that later in the innings but you cannot make up if you are down 5 and one guy is blocking 5 balls and 1 single it hurts bad.
2 centuries
some decent knocks
Fine catches
fine fielding is not a ‘Combined effort’ then suggest you rearrange your brain cells.
Pakistan were pretty flat and airless. That is normal and it happens in cricket.
puhleez... I can't believe ppl are actually recommending Afridi to open... we all know that in batting he's 50/50... if he clicks, then he does wonders for the team and can win us matches, but if he doesn't then his wicket may lead to a domino effect down the order. Both him and Razzaq are meant to be 6/7/8ish in the order.
What I don't get is why try something new again... why wasn't Yasir given a chance. I think Yasir and Butt can be a good pair just given the right opportunity and some trust until they develop further as permanent openers.
Umar hate to say this but Yasir was a scape goat of rift between the Team management (Saleem Altaf, Coach..etc) and the selectors (Wasim Bari and co..) how can you imagine Asim Kamal was preferred over Yasir in ODI's (not doubting Kamal can play a role of Indian wall but no place).
Khair what I dont understand is the consistent juggling Hafeez played at No 6 and I wont be surprise if he comes and open in the 2nd game and or something else..they need to get consistent which is not happening.
Imam Mhd.Ibrahim of Ramnad (S.India) made an amazing prayer for India's victory - by floating in a holy tank for 57 minutes! He learnt this ypga from his teacher Jaffar Pasha of Erwad. The tank which is considered a very holy confluence of Indian rivers is the location of a huge once-in 12 year festival.
Ibrahim is active in many social causes and uses his yoga to bring attention and awareness to national river water management, rain water harvesting, AIDS education etc.
you know what was wrong?... tendus 5 wickets I mean they were clearly given to him apart from the inzi one which tendu got lucky on and inzi got unlucky on
and I wouldn't say that on that delivery tendu bowled inzi but rather the ball barely touched the bails and again it was just luck
^ that's nonsense. If Tendulkar is a lousy bowler, then the batsmen who got out to him must have been worse louses! Everything is a mix of effort, talent and luck.
Tendulkar is not a lousy bowler but without a doubt he is a part time average bowler. Yes, he got 5 wickets but that does not prove he is a good bowler. From time to time bowlers batting at number 10 and 11 have manage to score 50 or even a century, that does not make them a world class batsmen.
what? now we're going to look at whose wickets are part of a bowler's stat? everyone know Tendulkar is not a great bowler - that's what makes it even more amazing....just like we get a special thrill when a Balajee or Shoab dispatch a Mcgrath for six.
Also, I think in case of Tendulkar, he has an above average record of providing crucial breakthroughs. 137 one day wickets is not trivial
I completely agree with you Umar bhai. That’s exactly what I was saying too that the problem is not that our players are inconsistent, it’s our selectors who keep changing our player and their batting orders. Once the talent is recognized, find a slot for that player, let him play at least 20-25 matches at that position and then decide whether he can be permanent player or not.
Dravid gave sooo many chances to Pak to get him out after he scored his century because the guy was absolutely tired, fatigued, and sweaty! But No, our fielders kept on missing the run out opportunities. It was so pathetic to watch. And that wicketkeeper of ours, please send him back to Laloo khait to play cricket on the streets
The thread opener asked a very innocent question of agreeing or disagreeing with what went wrong in the 1st ODI from the Pakistan’s prospective of course.
After so many replies and posts I have yet to see an ominous post in agreeing to a point.
kids !!
Sachin came through with flying colors and gave India what they wanted. In fact the whole team chipped in, and some poster up there ^ has a problem with this fact. NO Sir I do the LOL at you,
