Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v Pakistan at Cape Town, Nov 24, 2013
Well...they chose Anwar Ali the MoM...its cool too...
Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v Pakistan at Cape Town, Nov 24, 2013
Congrats everyone! Bhutti and Ali duo was dynamic today! Hope we don't drop them for Mohammad Sami in the next tour to ruin their confidence (and career)
Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v Pakistan at Cape Town, Nov 24, 2013
Anwar Ali is Man of the Match and he says he wanted to go out there and enjoy his batting and play his natural game. His conversations with Bhatti revolved around using up the full 50 overs and taking it one ball at a time and maybe they can take the score to 250. He says they have played together a lot in domestic cricket and that familiarity helped here. He admitted to feeling nervous at the start, but as he spent more time in the middle he got calmer.

Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v Pakistan at Cape Town, Nov 24, 2013
See, I keep telling you guys the domestic scene is not empty, our bench strength is not zilch. Its just matter of our selectors/captains giving chance to new players who have potential, if they fail first few games then it does not mean drop and forget, but persist for sometime. I am glad Bilawal showed his strength in first games to prove that he is a gem
and will be able to bowl along Irfan, Junaid and Aamir when he comes back. Anwar will also gain confidence and needs to be persisted with for bowling, not really for what we saw today.
Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v Pakistan at Cape Town, Nov 24, 2013
^ agreed, excluding amir part we don’t need him, thnkx ![]()

Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v Pakistan at Cape Town, Nov 24, 2013
In modern cricket...players play too many matches/series...fast games...travel a lot...too many tours...so we should make 3 squads for 3 formats consisting of 30-40 palyers each...so the players could get rest inbetween to avoid injuries/fatigue/lacklusterness etc...

South Africa vs Pakistan 1st ODI Highlights at Cape Town, Nov 24, 2013
Did not think that 218 was enough but great effort by the two debutants Bhatti and Anwar Ali
Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v Pakistan at Cape Town, Nov 24, 2013
Correct. Hope these two continue the good work. BTW bowled wicket of ABD was strange and real moral downer for a batsman.
Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v Pakistan at Cape Town, Nov 24, 2013
was a bit disappointed with Ahmed Shehzad. Having had so many lives (almost got run out twice and then a mi*hit almost had him caught in the deep) he should have made the most of it
And Afridi (well what can I say!) batted like Afridi...Horrible shot to get out with 15 overs remaining
Re: 1st ODI: South Africa v Pakistan at Cape Town, Nov 24, 2013
Good to see that both Bhatti and Anwar Ali can bat as well. Should persist with them for now.
