I think its a tough choice for the playing 11. I would be tempted to risk going in with the first 6 below, and then drop Fawad Alam for Umar Gul. And the rest of the bowling attack picks itself. Rana is familiar with these Aussie conditions and gets the ball to swing. This way you will get 6 bowlers who can bowl 10 overs. 2 all rounders in Afridi & Rana.

- Umer Akmal
- Shahid Afridi
- Fawad Alam/Umar Gul
- Rana Naveed
- Mohammad Aamer
- Saeed Ajmal

Having two non-performers (Fawad Alam and Rana) in the team is a recipe for disaster IMHO
- Fawad Alam - His batting does not fill me with confidence, bowling is nothing special, can't have him in the team just for his fielding and youthful exuberance!
- Uncle Rana - when it is not his day can go for plenty esp. on the bouncy and hard pitches of Australia and his batting comes off once in a blue moon. Almost single-handedly cost us the SF (CT) against NZ last year with his wayward stuff.
I w'd play Shoaib Malik and Umar Gul for a couple of games atleast before making any changes

^^ Rana is a top choice for ODI/T20. He's already playing in Australia and is in good form. Plus he's the only one of Pakistan bowlers who can swing the ball. On top of that, a pretty good bat too.

Performance in meaningless low intensity games is not a good judge of form

* Yousef
* Malik
* Umar
* Afridi
* Aamir
* Asif / Rao Iftikhar (he is more effective then asif in the shorter format)
* Gul / Rana (extra batsman in the side)
* Ajmal
Lets go Pakistan!
No Rana (the no balls-extras) or Salman Butt (he won't last 1st over). I hope the selection committee doesn't put 'em in the line up.

Aamer, Rana, Asif, Afridi, Ajmal is a very very good bowling lineup. Butt, Kamran, Younis, Yousif, Umar, Malik, Afridi is a great batting lineup as well. On paper, there's no way Pakistan should lose this game.
