Re: 1st ODI Pakistan vs Australia @ Brisbane, Jan 22, 2010
Despite being a better side in the fifty and twenty overs variety than the Tests, Pakistan will know that they will be up against it.Australia (1/2 at Coral to win game) will go into the series after having routed England 6-1, won the Champions Trophy in South Africa and beaten India in India rather easily and hence will be overwhelming favourites at Gabba. As compared to that, Pakistan is still reeling under the after-effects of selection issues and the likes and their recent IPL snub will be their only motivating factor to overcome the 7/4 offered by Sky Bet to upset the World Champions.
Pakistan will obviously be buoyed by the presence of Younis Khan (9/2 at Totesport to top the Pakistani batting), who makes a comeback into the side. However, they will need their openers to fire; not only score the runs quickly, but also not lose too many early wickets. It is highly likely that Kamran Akmal (8/1 at Ladbrokes to be Pakistan’s top-scorer) will open the innings with Salman Butt (9/2 at Coral to top the Pakistani batting).
However, the one batsman that I will be interested in having a look at is Shahid Afridi (12/1 at Ladbrokes to be the best Pakistani batsman). Afridi has slowly become one of the best spin bowlers in the limited overs format in the recent times, but that has taken a huge toll on his batting. After the recent IPL snub, Afridi had had a lot to say, and it will be vital for him to exhibit that he will be missed after all!
Re: 1st ODI Pakistan vs Australia @ Brisbane, Jan 22, 2010
umm they are getting the runs...we badly need the wicket...the ball's shine is going to go away and the batsmen are starting to settle in
Re: 1st ODI Pakistan vs Australia @ Brisbane, Jan 22, 2010
Afridi will be the key.

Re: 1st ODI Pakistan vs Australia @ Brisbane, Jan 22, 2010
The commentators are right... that's a pretty idiotic field setting. Giving away singles easily rather than putting pressure on the batsmen.
Re: 1st ODI Pakistan vs Australia @ Brisbane, Jan 22, 2010
afridi is actually proving to be a bad choice
Re: 1st ODI Pakistan vs Australia @ Brisbane, Jan 22, 2010

Re: 1st ODI Pakistan vs Australia @ Brisbane, Jan 22, 2010
need clarke's wicket now
Re: 1st ODI Pakistan vs Australia @ Brisbane, Jan 22, 2010
3 wickets down RR upto 6.16, lets keep it tight and take it to 7 and above and Aus will be in big trouble.
