It may have come out a little earlier, like 1994, but I am not sure. What I do know is that Cornetto was definitely there in mid 1995.
Didnt it change Ice cream in Pakistan? I mean, does anyone eat Polka Pop Cone or Polka Choc Bar anymore? I guess, now since Polka bought Walls, it probably discontinued the originals in favor of feast and cornetto. (btw, I am sure Chocbar and Pop cone must have been pretty popular when they came out, but I cannot start topics on those since I dont really remember their launch dates. If anyone knows, please start the thread for them)
For some reason, I always preferred Feast. I thought it was more manly . What kind of a silly complex was that?!!. Maybe it had something to do with it’s ad. In retrospect Cornetto was probably better, especially the nutty part on top, and the last part at the bottom which was filled with chocolate. Or maybe I am just deprived of Cornetto now.
I liked Cornetto, Feast, and Callippo (sp?). They certainly changed the way ice creams were consumed in Pakistan. I would assume partly because there was a very strong marketing campaign by Walls and they had sellers going from street to street selling ice cream. Availability certainly played a big role as well.

Yes indeed. One of my freinds was telling me that there was some lady behind that idea and she was very much awarded for her contribution.
POLKA belonged to my neighbor of 1995...Rashid Latif Ansari *(former Secretary Information, MD of Gramaphone Company of Pakistan and CEO of Shalimar Recording Company) and his brother...who too had an apartment at BON VISTA Clifton (where I live).***
In late 1995---POLKA was purchased by UNILEVER (Pakistan)... meanwhile WALLS also belonged to Rashid saheb's brother and that product too was lifted by the huge corporate giant UNILEVER..... as one of the most known classy marketing move of Ms. Hai who rose to become the CEO of the company...and now, probably, is with CITIBank.
WALLS has 10-12 products of various tastes and CORNETTO has ruled the demand (and supply) and mostly available with musical moving kiosks all around the city.....(most agonizing to us during the recording of plays... as we have to stop recording to let yje kiosk pass..with typical ringing of the theme music of WALLS ! :))
The other product most in demand...can be FEAST followed by PADDLE POP..!
I have tried WALLS in Scotland, UAE and Bahrain.....and I do believe that there could be a 5% variation in taste against the ones made back at our end....!!
So is the situation with KFC, PIZZA HUT and NANDOS !
In my opinion the most tastey Ice-cream in pakistan was ROCCO, better than polka. Yummy was bellow average in those days.
Rocco had a distinct taste of dairy milk and cream. Rocco is still available on those bicycles and some selected shops but they dont do any marketing, I wonder why.
The product of Walls is not Ice cream. It is called and written on their wraper as **'frozen dessert' **in pakistan, because they are not made of dairy milk & cream but vegetable oil.
Yeah, i noticed the "frozen dessert" on my magnum in pakistan, but i tell u it tasted SOOOOOO good after days of having no decent icecream or chocolate!
I used to work for Unilever in the IT department at one stage, and they had a freezer stuffed full of cornettos, soleros, twisters etc that we could have whenever we wanted. That was a good perk of the job!
