North Star were the first generation Joggers of today. Till that time, either there were different flavors of formal shoes or canvas shoes. Probably the term Joggers was introduced with the introduction of North Star in Pakistan.
For school goers, they were really exciting because some of their designs were polishable black colored so they could be worn as school shoes as well. For kids like me, it was such a relief to get rid of formal black school shoes. 
After enjoying a lot of popularity for a few years, North Star were outclassed by Cheetah by Servis. However, North Star would still be coined as the first generation of modern day joggers/sports shoes.
