It doesn’t explain why they passed out all at once. Any ideas?

Re: 178 recruits of Baloch Regiment pass out

A bunch of cadets from rest of Pakistan had their domicile changed to Balochistan to show that Balochs are also joining army.

Re: 178 recruits of Baloch Regiment pass out

These are not officers but ORs/NCOs. They are recruited and sent to the regimental centres for training and join as jawans. This news is about a batch of recruits recruited into the Baloch regiment of Pakistan Army. In the past recruits in Baloch Regiment weren't necessarily majority Balochis, as is the case with Punjab, FF, Sind Regiments where recruits are not necessarily in respective majority. But since the govt is encouraging Balochis, this news states that this particular passing out of recruits in Baloch Regt contained almost 99% Balochis. The PMA passing out commissioning officers last week also contained a significant no. of cadets from Balochistan.

Re: 178 recruits of Baloch Regiment pass out

Those 99% are not Balochs in ethnic origin if you really must know.

Re: 178 recruits of Baloch Regiment pass out

They may not be, but if they're permanent residents of Balochistan, have Balochistan domiciles etc. they'd be called 'recruits from Balochistan' wouldn't they?
Now how irregular/irresponsible/justified/unjustified the domicile regulations and uniformity is considered, that's another story. And yes, there are a lot of issues therein.
