Terrorists attacks are increasing in many parts of India.
**17 people injured in twin blasts in India’s Assam state **
At least 17 people were injured when suspected separatist militants set off two blasts in India’s north-eastern state of Assam on Sunday, news reports said. Police said militants from the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) carried out the bombings in and around Sibasagar town, 370 kilometres east of state capital Guwahati, the PTI news agency reported. The first blast occurred in front of a police station in Sonari town, 40 kilometres from Sibasagar, and injured 10 people. A bomber who was trying to enter the police complex posing as a vegetable vendor was arrested, the IANS news agency said in its report. A second blast at a bus terminal in the heart of Sibasagar came within 10 minutes of the first and injured seven bystanders. The injured were taken to local hospitals where at least five people were listed in critical condition. Police suspect the bombs used in the blasts were planted on bicycles.
ULFA and other rebel outfits often carry out attacks on security personnel and public facilities especially before India’s August 15 Independence Day or the Republic Day on January 26. Security forces were put on a state of high alert across the state to avert further militant attacks ahead of the independence day celebrations. The ULFA, the biggest rebel group in Assam, has been fighting the Indian security forces for an independent homeland since 1979. The state has witnessed an upsurge in violence ever since New Delhi called off its truce with the militant group in September 2006, accusing ULFA of extortion and continued violence in Assam. The group has carried out 26 bomb blasts in Assam since March 2007 in which more than 20 people have been killed and scores wounded. The ULFA was also blamed for a series of attacks in January in which at least 80 people, mostly migrant workers from other parts of India, were killed. **More than 20,000 people have been killed in the violent separatist movement in the state during the last three decades. **

If only India keep things to herself, and spend the funds in those areas, educate people, give them better lifestyles and stop interferring and destabilizing neighbouring countries, then these movements will die by them selves...
Stable and economically strong neighbours can help India and region to flourish.. European countries have learned this, don't know when we are going to learn this
The total number of security forces personnel killed in Naxalite violence in the past two years was more than those killed in Jammu and Kashmir or even the Northeast during the same period.
The number of civilians killed in Naxalite violence is far more than in insurgency-hit Jammu and Kashmir. The civilian figure in the Northeast is marginally up till March 31, 2007. Yet, the total number of Naxalites killed by the security forces is far less than the number of terrorists or militants killed in the Northeast and Jammu & Kashmir.
