16 Decemeber - Black day(s)

As a student of Human History, have learned that most nations have marked certain dates or numbers or days as cursed or unlucky to say the least. I don’t know if the legend behind them is true or not but in case of Pakistan, 16 December is certainly a black day if not cursed or unlucky by all means.

We lost our eastern wing on this day, thousands were killed, millions were displaced and even after 4 decades we still mourn the day, last year, when our National Flag was half-mast, we were mourning the decades old defeat and wound given by our enemy, 100s of our innocent children were targeted and slaughtered, leaving the stunt and confused nation in complete shock.

Someone once said that the smaller the size of the coffin the heavier it is, nobody but us (the Pakistanies, and i guess Russians also) knows how true it is. These 100 kids seems to be heavier then the thousands of soldier and civilian we lost in 1971, i hope no other parent in this world have to go through this, world of politics is ugly and international politics from the day it landed in the hands of arm traders ad dealers have been the ugliest thing since the first man have laid his foot on the ground.

Few days ago, after the 4 facilitators of APS attack were hanged, Intelligence Agencies have warned provinces and the center of the vow terrorist took to avenge the hangings, last year as well, i recall very well, a warning was released by the Intelligence agencies that an attack on school is possible, and again last year a suicide attack on a school of KPK was prevented by a brave student, yet not enough was done by anyone to prevent the the APS tragedy.

16 December is around the corner, it is first winter and hence first fog for my kids in Pakistan, from inside i am terrified, every morning someone inside me says, let them not go to school today, they are very young, day or two doesn’t matter, i tell my wife to not to send them and she innocently asks me, why.. and i have nothing to say in reply.

Should we be afraid, who is responsible here, some hail Gen Raheel some PM Nawaz, but my problems remains the same… how to take that fear out of my heart.. i am sure other parents have it too… and i confess, i am pretty coward and i am scared. Is there any State around to protect me?
