wow mashallah!

It was also mentioned somewhere that Ammar Afzal has been solving banking related IT problems for some time and has been compensated handsomely for his efforts......like up to $25000/- or maybe even more for solving some problems!

Makes one wonder ......there seem to be some IT related complex problems that no one else is able to unravel........why is that?

Does anyone know where this Stanford University of England (SUE) is? Net search didn't help.

Right I read that and wondered why those who are in charge…not taking notice of local Talent…the brain drain from Pakistan needs to be curbed…

seems it is all about the internet:

cheap way to start schools is to start them thru the Internet…

my guess is it does not have a big campus but lots of servers and most students are sitting at home…simple Idea…vast knowledge Data Base…

What exactly are there banking related IT problems...

yep for shame it is

Very truly !!!

seems Mr Ammar Afzal is a Data Base expert, and has Oracle 9i certification......can't say exactly what the problems he was able to unravel......if you read the Urdu version, it states US banks were experiencing data base problems that he was able correct.

Oracle 9i is not the tops in Oracle........I think it goes all the way up 11i............

That is why I wondered what was it that a 9i could solve and not the 10i's or 11i's.....

Re: 15 yr Old boy-Genius from Okara Pakistan

speculations oh well..

Anyway few months ago hackers able to decode Citi ATM's DES encryption, millions $ were taken out all over the world. Unfortunately Citi security team could not figure out the solution so they forward the case to world renowned IT scientists & Institutions. Some how Ammar teacher got the problem and forward to him and he provide the solution.

A truly bright, exceptional mind. Kudo's to him :)

Basic & Fundamental functionality & layout/processing engine is same for all the versions with some minor addition/changes, "i" represent for internet, i took the certification exam in my school years like 7 years ago.

bery nish :D

Re: 15 yr Old boy-Genius from Okara Pakistan

Wow , I am impressed. :k:

You mean to say that he solved the problem that the creators of the database couldnt themselves solve. Well truly great...

Let us understand this situation chronologically..

1) Citi has a DB problem.
2) The Citi security team could not solve the problem
3) They forward the problem to world renowned IT experts
There is a missing link here. Did they forward the problem to Oracle themselves ?
4) Ammar's teacher got the problem. Wow. This is simply great. Citi's processes needs a real audit. They send out the issue to a computer instructor who has no clue to solve the problem.
5) The kid solves the problem
Somehow everything does not add up.

Just a question.. Why is this being highlighted only in the Urdu media and not in mainstream media.

where you got the word database from my reply? from never land? :konfused:

I said it was a security algorithm problem with DES encryption !

Re: 15 yr Old boy-Genius from Okara Pakistan

^^

He is supposed to be an expert in databases. So you are meaning to say that he solved a problem that was not his forte..

Re: 15 yr Old boy-Genius from Okara Pakistan

simplyme got it right.

Most pakistanis just believe it because it makes them feel good. The story just doesn't add up. I searched the net and couldn't find a single credible source for the story. The only thing available everywhere its posted is the urdu article, which doesn't have the author's name, and its translations.

Regardless of the authencity of the news itself, the story has too many holes in it. Citigroup is suppose to just distribute its security program or whatever it was(dunno computer terminology) throughout the world to people who distribute it to teenagers. I mean come on, how gullable can you be. Then, the university not only brings the dude to england to study but also brings his whole family. If that wasn't enough, he gets a salary most people would dream of, for doing nothing but study.

Re: 15 yr Old boy-Genius from Okara Pakistan

This alleged Stanford University England doesn't even have a website. LOL this story seems fake.
