You can’t really blame america, but instead kayani should take the heat. According to those “retired” faujis now, Pasha wanted to move people out and flatten NWA / FATA? and he said to kayani that america would pay for it. It is right around 2008-9 when Obama tried to pay more attention to Pakistan as the core of the AfPak strategy.

Bin Laden attacked the US and they had to respond back especially with republicans in power. We can talk about semantics and how things could have been done differently, but the global WoT is out of Pakistan’s hands.

I do remember musharraf saying that US never told us to plug FATA after 2001-2 when taliban fled, but I thought right away that isn’t this the army chief’s, who also happened to be President, job to be proactive and flood FATA with troops to avoid what happened later? It seems that Pakistanis don’t think out of the box which shows with the dismal status of GDP and other social indicators like education, health, infant mortality etc.

Fata was never really under Pakistan’s control and the borders are porous like we know. Some villages on the border areas have houses on both sides of the border. The way US attacked Afghanistan they didn’t even give time for countries of the region to prepare.

Kayani should take the blame, when Musharraf was leading the country and the army then?
