VIDEO clips of a screaming baby boy being repeatedly tortured by his mother’s boyfriend were shown to a jury yesterday.
Fifteen-month-old Charlie Hunt died of severe head injuries after Darren Newton allegedly carried out a series of sadistic attacks for his “wicked pleasure”.
A court heard Newton, 32, recorded his cruelty on a mobile phone while alone with the lad when his unsuspecting mother was out. He even gave the clips gloating titles.
They included “Crying, no toys in pen, ahhhh”, “Squeezing toe in cot”, “Two minutes of pain” and “Shivering, no water” - taken of Charlie naked in an empty bath.
On the same day as the bath video, another graphic clip was filmed, in which Newton hit Charlie 12 times on the head, forced his finger in the sobbing child’s ear and kicked him as he lay on the floor.
Jurors held their hands over their mouths as they watched and the little boy’s cries rang around the courtroom. The video was titled “Happy slap”.
Two weeks later, Charlie died after what the prosecution claims was Newton’s final, but unfilmed, attack.
Prosecutor Denis Watson QC told Manchester Crown Court: "The defendant took pleasure from his cruel and wicked behaviour.
"He hit Charlie on the head time and time again. He not only filmed his actions but he titled them as well.
“The only logical explanation is that they were retained for repeated viewings later.”
Mr Watson said factory worker Newton met Charlie’s mother Laura Chapman when they lived next door to each other in Earby, Lancs.
She thought he was a “quiet, caring and loving man”, although “protective” of his mobile.
The truth about Charlie’s horrific suffering only emerged after he died and cops found videos on factory worker Newton’s phone.
He claimed Charlie had a fit. But doctors decided “a deliberate application of force” had caused retinal bleeds in both eyes, optic nerve damage, a swollen brain and recent bleeding to the brain.
Newton admits 12 counts of child cruelty but denies murder and child cruelty where there was no contact. The case continues.
He is not psycho , he is a criminal , should be hanged out in the open.
yes he is a psycho, the things he did to a little baby are what serial killers do and the fact that he was feeling enjoyment from making the videos and watching them over and over again.
total psycho, i think in these types of cases and when it comes to rape, the sharia way of punishment would give some type of justice.
as BM said stoning the psycho to death would give the mother some feeling of justice.
A SICK thug was jailed for life today for the “horrific” murder of a 15-month-old girl who he savagely attacked after her crying interrupted him playing on his X-Box. Violet Mullen was punched, slapped and pinched by Gary Alcock in the three weeks leading up to her death before he delivered a fatal blow to the stomach which tore her internal organs.Alcock, 28, must serve a minimum of 21 years before he can be considered for parole.A jury at Manchester Court had cleared his ex-partner, Claire Flanagan, 22 - Violet’s mother - of murder.Last month she was instead found guilty of causing or allowing the death of the tot by ignoring the obvious signs of abuse. The court heard Flanagan put her desperate need for a man in her life ahead of her daughter. She was jailed for five years.Alcock had moved in with Flanagan just weeks after they started dating. On January 12 an ambulance was called to Flanagan’s home after Alcock told emergency services the child seemed “spaced out” and her lips were blue and cold.
Paramedics entered the house in Oldham, Greater Manchester, and found Violet was not breathing and covered in bruises. They tried to revive her in the ambulance en route to Royal Oldham Hospital but she died 45 minutes after arrival. The youngster died from internal bleeding after suffering 35 separate injuries including multiple bruises, rib fractures and brain damage, which were comparable to injuries suffered in a car crash.Sentencing the pair, Judge Clement Goldstone QC said: "In the three weeks before her death you, Gary Alcock, subjected her to repeated violence. You fractured two of her ribs either by squeezing or gripping her so tight that they snapped."You caused injuries to her brain, face, arms and legs with a combination of punches, slaps and, bordering on the sadistic, pinches.
“This was the way you chose to cope with a demanding little girl who demanded your attention and interrupted your time-consuming hobby of playing computer games.”
Alcock put her to bed on the day of her death, said the judge, “no doubt in the hope that you would have some time free to indulge your desire to play on your X-Box”.
He continued: "Violet was sick, she required changing, she required your time and patience."You lost control and your temper in the most unimaginable way. You struck her first in the mouth and then inexplicably and with savage force in the stomach."The blow was struck with such force it tore her internal organs, he said.Alcock then put her back in her cot and waited for the return home of Flanagan who attempted to cover up the injuries by taking no action.
its mothers fault too.there are so many precautions available today to enjoy sex without getting pregnant....you bring precious life to this earth and do this to it.... :(
BUT WHY? :(
I would blame the mothers in both cases. How can a mother not notice all the bruising/injuries/bleeding on their child?? I just can't seem to grasp that! Both the mothers should be punished severely as well.
Stupid B*****.
Great, now I know what's gona be stuck in my mind for a good couple of days.. :(
