15 degree rule

please explain what this 15-degree rule is.

Thanks.

Re: 15 degree rule

It's a measure of pain inflicted upon a victim. Our police uses third degree to extract confessions from hardened criminals (anything beyond is inhumane), but Sehwag & Afridi had no qualms about giving 15th degree to the bowlers. To save further damage to bruised egos of bowlers all over the world, ICC has banned its use. Anyone found using it is subject to a 1-year ban.

Re: 15 degree rule

Bending the arm at more than 15 degrees at the elbow, immediately before delivering the ball, is illegal.

Make a throwing motion with your arm. And see how it bends at the elbow. If the bend is less than 15 degrees, likely it can't be spotted with naked eye. That is a legal delivery in cricket.

Re: 15 degree rule

If it doesnt get spotted with a naked eye then "aankhon ko kaprey waghera pehna kay, parda karwa kay" check again and maybe then you would be able to see the bend. :D J

Re: 15 degree rule

throwing a ball and balling are two different actions Faisal. Let me understand this: A baller can only release the ball 15 degress after his fully extended arm comes down for a delivery?

Re: 15 degree rule

***Why has 15 degrees been identified as a permissible level of straightening? ***
The findings of the ICC’s extensive bowling research project identified 15 degrees as the threshold at which any elbow extension starts to become visible to the naked eye. This is consistent with the intention of Law 24.2, which is to prevent any *visible *elbow extension in the bowling action.

***Does bowling with that degree of straightening give the bowler an advantage? ***
No, the point is that bowlers have always bowled with a degree of straightening which has not been detectable or quantified by expert analysis. The advent of high speed cameras and bio-mechanical science now make it possible to analyse bowlers’ actions in a way that was not possible only a few years ago. Bowlers will not be able to ‘learn’ how to deliberately bowl with a 15 degree straightening of the elbow; it is a natural effect created by body forces in delivery.
