The country i call home has constantly been led by one corrupt son of a bithc after another. Not once have we had anyone in the history of this state who sits on the top post with actual concern for the country and its people. No one has ever bothered educating our masses and it has never been on anyone’s agenda or been a top priority. Uneducated people load up buses and trucks to go vote for the one who their village feudal lord tells them to, in return for 50 rupees. Democracy gone horribly wrong.
Pakistan was just done being emptied out by the one goon that left and now we’re being looted and pillaged by yet another dog that everyone seems to have quietly accepted as their leader. The image that comes to mind is of a woman who just had her family shot dead infront of her, now being gang raped by 30 men.
The poor keep getting poorer and the rich indulge in unimaginable luxuries. The hundreds of thousands of people who fled Pakistan, myself included, sit here and do absolutely nothing to help the cause of our country. What reason then, and more importantly what right, do we have to celebrate this country’s so called independance?
Why do call it "so called independence"? Lots of people from British India gave up their lives so that people in the two countries could be free to make their own mistakes and learn from it.
But I don't know what right, desis who have abandoned their country to live in Europe or America, have to celebrate their country's Independence Day.
......What reason then, and more importantly what right, do we have to celebrate this country's so called independance?
The exact reason why we celebrate Eid-ul-Azha. Our forefathers did sacrifice for the country and 14th August should remind us that **we do not **have any right to criticize the rulers or the system or the laws of the country if we have not sacrificed for the country first and tried to improve the conditions we live in.
When it comes to rights, we look at the government not giving us those and complain. When it comes to our obligations, we start with ourselves, our family, our friends and maybe caste.

You should celebrate that because you have a country, a homland, and an identity....and you can always strive hard to make it better for your future generations. Atleast You have an opportunity!
This device of nationalism has been particularly successful in recent times....the parades, the music and propganda. The longer lasting the existence of any given State, the more powerful this weapon. Worship of the state becomes a none-toosubtle means of cultivating worship of one’s ancestral rulers.
People need to wake up and realize that today you are Pakistani, tomorrow you are Punjabi and next week you could be Indian. These national holidays are just a cloak used by the establishment to hide behind their own **** ups.
this mentality of i’ll only celebrate independence day if my country is doing good i dont understand. Look at yourself if nothing else. You or I are doing reasonably. That in no small way is owed to Pakistan for the resources, community, connections you or your parents were provided and for what can provide and improve on in turn. Celebrate that if you’re bummed about democracy etc.
Don’t all our military leadership including the civilian leadership have US citizenship? or maybe their sons or daughters? How could they then make independent decisions? Even if they don’t, do drones not come and bombard our tribal areas? So what celebration and what freedom? Celebrate that we are a prostitute of the superpower!
Who brought Mush? Who brought Zardari and have you guys heard of the “international guarantees” ? Talk about being free..
No celebration of " independence" until independent and free.

Yet The Country you call Pakistan is surviving, the country is known as nuclear power, the country still stands its ground, despite the numerous reports/forecasting/predictions from USA/Inida.. The country is and will be ur last hope when all the countries in the world will refuse to accept you...
Yes the country has been led by most notorious crooks of era, but the leadership comes from the people, these army generals or politicians were once like us, in order to have right leadership, we need to change our attitude, we need to patriotic and we need to be doing something ( doesn't matter how big or small), we need develop a habit to work for the country and not always asking that what country have given us...
I'll celebrate this Independence day hoping that i'll do some thing good for the country, accepting my fellow Pakistanies doing their part for the benefit of the country...
why celebrate indepedence day is like asking why celebrate birthday or anniversary etc etc. You might make valid points about whats wrong and why you're unhappy with the state of affairs, but you have 364 other days to work those out and work on those ... imo its a day we can value what we've recieved and accomplished instead of regretting what we didnt and havent.
Which country is "perfect"? Which country's leadership is perfect? Which system is "perfect"? None.
Its a country our forefathers sacrified their lives for, we can make it a dumping ground or we can build a castle on it. As a citzen of the country you can chose to become piece of garbage for the place or become a piece of decoration, your choice.
