shes beginning to throw a strop now, she will scream, as in ear piercing scream when she dosnt get her own way, if you tell her off she screams right back, its her way or no way…so i wanted to ask, how can you start disciplining a 14month old, she doesnt understand when she gets told off, thinks its funny. is it too early to start giving her the stern look and making her sit quietly, can i give her a little tap on the hand…to show im serious.i dnt know what to do with her, shes too young to get told off, my heart melts every time i try to…

on a serious note, this is just a stage and will pass off (hopefully) ignore and dont give in to her tantrums ! kids are really chalaak. they know how to deal with us elders

do not give in to her tantrums at all. she's entering the "terrible two's", a develepmental stage where all toddlers start testing new found independance and boundries. how you react now will set the stage for how her habits will form. if you give in now, it will only get worse later, as she will equate throwing tantrums to getting what she wants.

I will never suggest to give her even the lightest tap on the head or the bum or anywhere else.If you do,one day she will be doing it back...!!..This is what they do.You cant be giving her time out as she is a bit young for that,but just make sure not to give in to her tantrums.Very soon will she learn how to get what she wants and it can only get worse.They are genius when it come to manipulating parents like that...!

Mine throws tantrums more often when I'm more stressed out and have been sort of snappy or impatient with her. Her mood often is a result of mine. It might be worth checking to see if anyone is modeling this kind of behavior or if it's a reaction to something in particular.
More importantly I think she needs an alternative. Instead of scolding her, try giving her another way to express her frustration. Kneel down so that you're eye level and ask her questions about what she wants. And do try to calm her down and then distract.

I am going thru the same with my 2 year old :( I hope it's just a phase
I try to communicate to her that I am angry and upset with her or I am sad then she gets apologetic and tries to make me smile by kissing me but this only works like 75% of the time

My daughter is 22 mths, she hits on wall or on floor when she doesn’t want to do something i ask her. When i try to look upset she will come nd kiss me. She is hitting her bro a lot nd whn i tell her look bhai is crying..she will run nd kiss him...i dont know how to handle her. Day by day its incresing. My mom in law asked me to hit her slightly on hand whn she hits her bro but i can’t.

Most of us are dealing with almost two-year-olds. They call it "terrible twos" for a reason.
I think there's a lot of testing boundaries and asserting your own will. And that leads to a lot more conflict.

Tell me about it...I have started to notice more tantrums and 'I want it my way,and I want it now' kinda attitude,and that too developing in just a few weeks.

Since she is so young, please dont do time outs yet, she wont get them. Tap on the hand might not work either because she could end up tapping you! I would suggest if she is acting up, remind her she isnt to do it and remove her from the situation or distract her with some other activity. At this age, they are so easy to be manipulated. Then they start getting too smart for you and you cant do that anymore
