It’s just the way it is. I’ve just been looking at Emirates flights for my mum and outward bound there are short stopovers (only an hour and a half or two) but on the way back the shortest I could find was seven hours and many are around twelve to fourteen..

**may be to/from the UK. it’s usually a few hours to/from North America. It’s because i think most flights leave late evenings from the Middle East for the sub-continent. it makes perfect connection from across the Atlantic because flights arrive in the early evenings in the Middle East.

i think if one can get a transit visa in Dubai, sightseeing is the best way to spend the time. :)**
