Whats its significance other than our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was born on this day?

Jitna Diya Sarkar Nay Mujko, Itni Meri Auqat Nahi, Yeh Saab Tumhara Karam Hai Aqa, Mujh Mein Aisi Koi Baat Nahin.

Infact there is also disagreement over the exact date of birth of the prophet(pbuh).
Books on Islamic history report both 12th Rabi-ul-Awal and 9th Rabi-ul-Awal as the date of birth of the prophet(pbuh). Though majority takes it to be the 12th.
Perhaps this difference of opinion is meaningful?
