12 Indians booked for rioting in New Jersey

In a disturbing incident, 12 Indian youth were arrested on March 13, and charged with possession of weapons for unlawful purposes and rioting in Old Bridge Township in New Jersey.

Nine of them were charged as adults. Three juveniles were released into the custody of their parents.
Five of the arrested are from Carteret, New Jersey: Vishav Narwaha, 19, Gurdeep Singh, 18, Nirmal Singh, 18, and Navjot Aujla, 21, Gurmaninder Singh, 20.

Four are from Richmond Hills and Bellerose in Queens, New York: Jasdeep Shina, 18, Arminder Singh 22, Jaswinder Singh, 19, Davinder Singh, 19.
Bail for them was set at $50,000. The juveniles were aged 16 and 17 and hailed from Carteret.

Police arrived in the area of the London Terrace Apartments and the Parkwood Apartments at around 9 pm after several 911 calls that reported a fight involving several people.

Patrolman Michael Snee, who arrived soon, saw two cars leave the area, a 2005 Lincoln Town Car and a 2002 Toyota Camry. Police found the vehicles at the TGI Friday’s parking lot on Route 9. Officer Snee saw a man with blood on his hands and a black metal bar with chains attached, reports said.

Meanwhile, police also got information from Raritan Bay Medical Centre in Old Bridge about people being treated in the emergency ward for non-life threatening injuries.
Soon, police arrested the 12 occupants of the two cars and recovered several weapons, including bars, chains and baseball bats.

Silly kids. I hope the juveniles will get the good old “back home” treatment from parents. As Russell Peters says “Somebody gonna to get hurt very bad…”

Not Indian but Sikh. The only "indian" desi gangs in UK, Canada & USA are comprised almost 100% of Sikhs.

Desi gangs are less known than some of the other notorious ones like M13, Crips, Bloods, etc. etc. mostly because they don't get that much exposure.

But there are or atleast were small pockets of Indian/Pakistan gangs. I know of one such gang, it used to be called ViceLords. I don't know if it's still around, but another prominent one is Latin Kings (comprising of mostly Latins but others as well).

Hopefully the Govt. will finally take some concrete steps to control gangs after the Mexican Druglord fiasco which became a national headline, and a concern for the current Administration.

There are plenty of Indian/Pakistani gangs in NY, they are the ones who always cause the fights at the parades etc.. Sikh gangs tend to be more active around queens.
The reason you dont hear about them very much is because there arent nearly as big as the Latin Kings or Crips etc.

something tells me if they were a group of muslim boys, we would have all heard about it loud n clear, with the words 'fanatic', 'militant', 'extremist' thrown in for good measure i.e mainstream media stereotyping at its best.

And some people would have talked about root causes for these riots. They would claim discrimination against muslims is causing all the problems and these kind of incidents were just waiting to happen. They would also blame the mainstream media for alienating the muslims and claim that these guys were airing their legitimate grievances. :o

Back in the 90's Pakistani gang by the name of "Madina Boys" was very famous among Pakistani youth in Queens, NY. it was all started outside Madina Resturant on Elmhurst Avenue, NY.

Project Rebellion credited with stemming tide of violence by two rival groups

VANCOUVER — Police have arrested members of rival southeast Vancouver gangs they say are responsible for over 100 recent shootings.

“We’ve always been told by media experts to never say or admit there is a gang war,” said VPD Chief Jim Chu. “Well, let’s get serious. There is a gang war and it’s serious.”

Chu announced Friday the arrests of five gangsters of the Sanghera group and the Buttar group who “are killing each other for profit and territory.”

Udham Singh Sanghera, the 58-year-old leader of the Sanghera group, faces seven gun and ammunition charges.

His lieutenant, Gordon Robert Taylor, 42, faces 12 gun charges. Barjinder “Bobby” Singh Sanghera, 31, faces eight gun-related charges.

Police say they took down Bobby Sanghera as he was “in hunting mode” on the way to do a shooting. A bulletproof vest and three handguns were seized from his vehicle.

Arrested from the Buttar-Malli group is former Red Scorpion Tejinder Singh Malli, 24, and 28-year-old Bimal Datt Sharma.

Both are facing one count of break and enter. Police say they were arrested during what would have been a violent grow-rip.

The arrests were part of Project Rebellion, which concentrates on the most violent of Vancouver’s gangster population.

Chu said police are prepared to arrest gangsters on any crimes they can.

“As long as it gets them off the street and into a jail cell, where innocent members of the public can’t be hurt, we’ll continue to pursue them this way,” he added.

Insp. Mike Porteous, team commander of Project Rebellion, credited the two rival groups for 100 shootings in the last two years. Since the project’s inception, there have only been three fatal gang shootings in Vancouver — none have been associated with the strife between the two groups, he said.

The Buttar part of the Buttar-Malli gang is headed by Manjit “Manny” Singh Buttar. Buttar is the former bodyguard of Bindy Johal. His brother arranged Johal’s hit.
