KARACHI: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, March 13: The Mohajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi) has claimed to have received 11 bodies of its workers who were kidnapped from different areas of the city.

Besides, it alleged that around a dozen Haqiqi activists including eight women have been missing following a protest demonstration in front of the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday, which came under attack by members of its rival group.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the in-charge of the party’s ladies wing, Rida Asim, alleged that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was behind the recent violent attack on women and children who were protesting for the release of the party leaders and workers in front of the Karachi Press Club.

“So far we have received 11 bodies of our workers in 24 hours, which were found from different parts of the city including Landhi, Korangi, Malir and Shah Faisal Colony,” she said.

Ms Asim said that state-backed terrorism was at its peak and it was high time democratic forces condemned such cowardly acts.

She called for the release of all the Mohajir Qaumi Movement’s workers and its chairman, Afaq Ahmed.

Ms Asim went on to say that polling day rigging and victimisation of rivals in the general elections had proven that the Muttahida had lost its roots in the metropolis.

Earlier, the MQM chairman, Afaq Ahmed, welcomed the Murree accord signed between the two majority- winning parties but asked the PPP co-chairman, Asif Ali Zardari, and Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Nawaz Sharif to ensure peace and a level-playing field for all the political parties in the near future.

“The future of democracy depends on the joint-struggle of the democratic forces and accountability of the dictator and his allies mainly in Karachi, who have kept citizens under fear and terror during their rule,” his lawyers quoted him as saying.

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

Future of democracy! Dunno?

These goons will continue turning the beautiful city of Karachi into a broken down Afghan village.

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

MQM and Haqiqi are just as bad as each other! But news in Karachi is that the dead bodies and missing are not the work of MQM - as usual people are blaming 'agencies'

Who else could it be?

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

bring back Naseer ullah Baber!!!

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

As governor of Sindh. Zardari will do a great service to Karachi, Hyderabad and rest of Sindh if he does that.

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

He is stuck in FATA. Might has well make Baitullah Mehsud interior minister. This looks like agencies game to me, as they are falling in Waziristan, they need to distract people elsewhere.

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

^Whom do you consider "agencies"?
Its the people of agencies like FIA, ISI that are being targetted by terrorrists.

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

:k: The saviour of Karachi :jhanda:

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

There is no need to support or help MQM-H. They do not have people's vote on their side, so its better to get rid of such non-democratic groups, if they are in collision course with a democratically elected group.

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

he conducted operation against a group which has a huge support and following in that city. How can he be saviour of the city, if he is going against its citizen’s will.

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

civilian will was tempered. Ho would you explain most educated segment of population following a retard blindly ??

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

Agreed ...... I don't get it...If MQM is not popular or a terrorist party...Why does it get 17 out of 20 seats in Karachi. It is a reality(however unfortunate to some it may be).Again i am not an MQM fan.

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

So much hatred for staunch opponents that you want to kill them all. That is absolutely undemocatic and barbarian attitude:(

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

MQM-H and PPP-(Makhdoom Ameen Fahim) supporter should split from PPP and form a new party or Join Pakistan Socialist Democratic Party

A Party striving for Social Reforms in Pakistan and a Welfare State. Striving against Law Authorising Violations. Striving for Freedom of Speech and Expressions. Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

Naserullah Babar was involved in extra judicial killings of MQM workers, but most of those workers were involved in murders, tortures of opponents. Though the Operation Cleanup affected many many innocent people too but on large it resulted in restoration of peace in the city (not as much loot maar, qatl-o-gharat, burning on strikes as it used to be). Probably thats what is needed for Islamabad, Lahore, FATA etc.

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

nGenius,

Is there any particular reason for that? If that happens, Amin Fahim will sign death warrant on his political career like others in past.

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

I don't like Zardari and Altaf Hussian..........criminals running a political parties.

We need a new vision,......young smart politicians taking part in our political system instead of criminals and rapist.

Makhdoom Ameen Fahim can be the chair person for the political party; he can groom newcomers into the politics. We can eliminate the violence if we can create a better political system. I think it will be best If Haqiqi merge with another political party it will reduce the violence in Southern Sindh. I think Internal and extern (Agencies) will not allow such thing to happened.

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

What exactly can people do about it? I am not too sure who exactly came up with the slogan "hamayn manzil nahi rehnuma chahiye" in MQM but thats what its followers shouted when Altaf Hussein wanted to step down.

Ameen Fahim's name has become a 'brand name' for some reason, I don't know if he has any criminal cases against him. But he himself wants to be a "Prime Minister" and not someone who wants to run the party but not participate in elections/PM-candidacy-race etc.

As for MQM-Haqiqi, that is a violent force more than MQM (Muttahida), no matter who they merge with they can't give up their gun-toting behaviour.

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

In my previous posts I have mentioned that we need a new Political system that Include 4 main (multi-ethnic) political parties.

This is my vision:

Main Parties:
1- Pakistan People Party (under new leadership, no Zarda and Bhuto) Merger of PPP and PPP (S) and MQM-Altaf]

2- Pakistan Socialist Democratic Party (Under new leadership)
[PPP-M and MQM-H, PML-N (without nawaz)

3- Awami National Party/National Democratic Party
[Merge with Green Party, Awami Tehreek, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehrik and PML-Q]

4- Islamic democratic party (Merging Islamic Parties)

Smaller parties:
Communist Marxist Party
National Peoples Party

Re: 11 workers killed in a day: MQM-H

^What is PPP(M) and PPP(S)?

There is one and only one PPP founded by ZAB in 1967:D
