Hi everyone
I hope all of you are doing well and your ramadhan is going great.
My son has developed a habit of hitting/slapping in face. He is my first baby so I have no experience how to discipline such a young baby.
Any suggestions plz?
My 15 months old is doing it too. Im trying to hold his hand and saying No. But it works some time only

My nephew used to do this very early on. He used to bite my cousin so much. Like he expressed both happiness and anger with biting and hitting. Some told her it could be early signs of mild autism which it was. He has been in behavioral therapy for a while and it really helped. Not wanting to concern you at all but I figured maybe mention our experience with this so maybe you could be aware of it too? Maybe speak to the doctor about it. Hope I don’t alarm you.

Reminds me of the film “the change up” where one of the babies keeps banging his head on the railings on the cot. Was hilarious.

Say no firmly and remove the hand firmly. Then distract.

I told my nephew (age of 2) not to do it again..and I used to be so firm and no smiling even because smile encourages your baby so even if your forbidding your child for something and are being sooooo polite, it wont help. You will need to show him that what he is doing is wrong and unacceptable.
I used to hear things like, yeh to bachha hy but I believe, babies at such a young age learn behaviours..if he knows what slapping is and he certainly has aqal to understand that he shouldn’t be doing it. There were days when he wouldn’t listen and keep slapping, in those cases, I stopped talking to him and looking at him, I know some of you might think, it was a rude behaviour from me to a child but believe me it worked. The little kid then would slap anyone but learnt, he cant slap me…!! I was not able to stop him from slapping others (because others used to laugh n smile back at him and tgat encouraged him) but he never did this to me. Today, now when he is 5, all “those” people keep telling me how naughty he has become and are genuinely fed up with his shararten but to me, he is the sudhra hua child… he knowd, he can’t mess up with me!

My nephew would do this and bite!
My sister would tell him sternly…this is wrong…the death look and everything.

Yes to death look. Pls understand all babies do this and it’s ok it’s a phase u just stop and say no and distract. They do learn.

I think you should time out, tell him no firmly if he repeats go for time out.

I am doing this as most of you have said to hold his hand firmly and say no. He stops at that time but starts again after a few minutes. His little hands hurt very much when he slaps at my face

I hide my face wid both my hands to show tat mama is hurt n uoset. He hates me being uoset so he stops n once he is ready to apilogize i tell him to kiss the cheek he slapped. N after i tell him mama ko haii nahin kertay paari kertay hain.

He’s very young so persistence is key. Say a firm ‘no’ every time, until he understands. If he understands and does it straight away ignore him for just a few seconds.
keep at it until he stops.
