oo how'd you make a steamed spongecake?

i saw someone post a recipe for chocolate cake in a mug, i still wanna try it out

Re: 101 Uses for the Microwave

I’ve heard of the cake in a mug too, never tried it though. You need to make sure you it for the correct time depending on the wattage of your microwave.

Here’s a recipe for steamed microwave sponge:-

There are some reviews at the bottom of the page by poeple who have tried the recipe out

Cooking an omlette

Re: 101 Uses for the Microwave

ohhh that chocolate cake in a mug was such a waste :naraz: … it was just proper sponge , not the cake :omg: … but later i made up my own recipe similar to that one and just added abit more chocolate and milk… and it came out looking perfect …

I sometimes make myself oatmeal when at work … just pop in 3 tablespoons of oats in a cup and half teaspoon sugar and start boiling it in the microwave… mix it every 30 seconds … and lovely creamy oats are ready …:yummy:

Re: 101 Uses for the Microwave

whenever I needed to massage my baby's tummy with warm towel I put a small towel in microwave for 40 seconds. It saved me alot of time as I didn't have to turn on the iron and wait for it to get hot. :@:

other than that it serves alot of other purposes like :

warming food
defrosting
boiling egg
baking potato (jacket potato)

Re: 101 Uses for the Microwave

Only thing I ever use my microwave for is defrosting and heating. I had no idea it could do things like boil eggs, cook omelets and cook paper. But why would you need to cook paper anyways?

Re: 101 Uses for the Microwave

Well therrres one thing i did with the microwave .....to blow it up .... but am not gona tel how cos its too dangerous :p

Re: 101 Uses for the Microwave

I think the south Indians say pappadam to what the rest of the folks call papar.

Re: 101 Uses for the Microwave

warming up naans in the micro ruins it for me ..every single time :teary2: … they come out really soft and beautiful and within seconds they become stiff :frowning:

Re: 101 Uses for the Microwave

^splash a little water before heating them :@:

Re: 101 Uses for the Microwave

I do that sweetu , but if i dont eat them up quickly enough they just stiff up :vivo:

Re: 101 Uses for the Microwave

oh yeah naan you can't really do well in microwave. same goes for desi roti. the only thing that works well for me right now is the lebanese pita bread, but only cuz i eat it so fast nerd

Re: 101 Uses for the Microwave

Vegetables in a microwave? Surely thats killing all the good bits. Nutrients or whatever.

Baked potatoes are only good when in the oven. I know it takes hours, but still!

My mum used to hate our microwave. Wouldn't even heat food up in it. Always on gas, in a pan.

Re: 101 Uses for the Microwave

actually no it doesn’t kill any nutrients. some of the nutrients are better released when you heat/cook something, and if you don’t want to dirty 5 dishes just to cook something, then microwave it is :roman:

and baked potatoes are excellent in oven, no argument there but i dont have an oven. so HA!
