Farhad Ali Khawar, who is working on Mardan history, told that it was a town of a big city of Mora, which belongs to the Aryan period. He added that during the visit of Sikandari Azam this village was settled. He said that during the excavation coins of that Aryan period were also found.
1000 years ago wasnt aryan period, unless this "archaeologist" is classifying everything prior to the turkic invasions as "aryan". and those artifacts look very gandhara-esque.
i think the reporter got confuzzled and randomly wrote 1000 for “hazaaron saal” . there’s mention in the article of finding artefacts from the indo-greek period, which is around 200 BC, and various other more recent strata.
It was an excellent decision by the KPK Government to pour some money into archaeology, it ties in with long term tourism goals.
I'm excited to discover more about KPK's Ghandharian Past. InshAllah, more than just being known for it breathtaking nature beauty, KPK will be also be identified for it's archaeological importance and ancient mysteries.
Such efforts should be fully encouraged and appreciated.
