how can i walk 8,000 steps without using Pedometer? i found from a conversion chart that
2000 steps = 1 mile
so 8,000 steps wud be 4 miles…can i use my treadmill at moderate or rather low speed to walk this much distance as i dont have this Pedometer…if i want to buy tell me how much wud that cost me? is it really worth to buy?
Why don't [FONT="]Just count your number of steps on your treadmill for one minute using a stopwatch or a clock with a seconds hand. Multiply this times 60, and you'll have a decent guess at how many steps you take per hour on your treadmill, and this will tell you how much time you need to walk on your treadmill in order to accomplish the 8000 steps.
A slow moderate pace would be about 3 miles per hour, I guess, so you're probably going to have to walk about 1 1/3 hours to take the full number of steps you want.
My mom has the Omron HJ-112. She's gotten loads of free ones through her diabetes education group but they are all cheap goody bag sort of pedometers. This one is really good, once the settings are put in you don't have to do anything and it starts recording. It automatically resets at 12:00 and stores all your past days. My mom loves to keep her steps out and now she even walks around when she is talking on the phone. Sometimes it isn't possible for her to formally take a walk outside, so this tool keeps her motivated even in the house to stay active.
