I did not contradict myself. I refuted your point where you tried to connect lack of intermingling as one factor leading to these crimes.

Rapists do get away everywhere it occurs and no, severe punishments are not common for rapists even outside SE Asia. Unfortunately.

More or less, the stigma of being raped is also everywhere. Poor victims do suffer from guilt as well.

Like others, I have already mentioned honor killing is not religion based. Never was. It is not the misuse of religion either.
This practice is purely cultural.

The video person says religion is force of evil. These people are simply ‘jaahil’ and biased. lol

Anyone can see the video is made for a reason.

I never said a lack intermingling is a CAUSE for rape. I said that rape occurs in these rural area where most often it is authority figures in their lives because there are not many circumstances where they would come into close contact with the opposite sex. Intermingling between the sexes is not common in places like Afghanistan. So when is it appropriate for them to allow their daughters to speak to or be in the company of a male? In circumstances like this unfortunately. I never said religion causes rape or justifies it, I said that many authoritative figures get away with their crimes because of their positions and the misuse of religion and interpretation of texts. I’m not blaming the religion but the sheep of people who are too afraid to question the people they follow or allow close to their daughters. Also I know honour killing is not religion based, but many of these rapes are seen as adultery in the illiterate person’s eyes- and then people have used Islam to justify the punishment for adultery, not the punishment for rape. That’s a major problem.

In the West, the circumstances for rape are quite different as intermingling here is quite common. Also the average age for rape occurring is much higher compared to rural areas and many SE countries.

Also the crime that was committed in Afghanistan would be at least punished if this happened in the West. She was underage - so a minor and even if it had been consensual as he claims, he would face statutory rape charges against him, but I doubt that will happen in Afghanistan. So yes rapes do get punished and more publicized in the West than they do in SE countries - most because of no report and this stigma. There are also more support groups and organizations available to rape victims which are not prominent in SE countries for these young girls to get over the traumatic incident.

I’m not swayed by the opinions of the people in the video, I was just stating my opinion on the issue.
