jazakhallah khair. do not speak unless its necessary? i dont understand. like we can;t talk rubbish? like even if we're just kidding around? i mean..i do that with my friends..talk about nothing in paticular..thats not allowed?
If you think about the gravity of the effects human speech can trigger, you’ll realize the wisdom in not speaking unless necessary. It is related that Sayyidna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) used to keep a small pebble under his tongue. This way, whenever he was about to say something, he wouldn’t just blurt it out. He’d think about it and if it was worth saying, he’d take out the pebble and say it, otherwise he’d keep quiet.
Although this is not something you HAVE to do, it does make you a better person. The thing with human beings is that we ourselves don’t realize what we are saying at times. You mentioned kidding around with friends. Think for a moment what you talk about when you’re with them. Things you do:
Discuss a third person that’s not present (and let’s admit it, it isn’t always something good about them ). That’s ‘Gheebah’.
Making fun of someone among yourselves. You might hurt their feelings even if it’s all in good humor.
The most important thing of all perhaps, is that if you talk too much, you are bound to make a fool out of yourself at some point.
The Prophet (saw) advised us to be quiet in gatherings. That way, if the talk around you is idle and useless, you’re not part of it. But at the same time, if the talk around you is useful and full of wisdom, you’d still gain everything from it.
maybe if you are grnaded with jannah then you will have a chance to get close to Allah otherwise may Allah protect us all, if you dont act upon the teachings of his nabi ull be thrown in Jahanam and never get close to Him....
