10 Facts About Angels
Written by Call to Islam

  1. Angels are dignified beings that Allah created out of light. Angels never disobey Allah, and do not tire from continuously glorifying Him.

“The Angels were created from light…” (Hadith)

They (i.e. the Angels) glorify His Praises night and day, (and) they never slacken (to do so). (Qur’an, 21:20)

  1. Angels never sin; whoever disbelieves in the Angels is a disbeliever.

They (the Angels) do that which they are commanded. (Qur’an, 66:6)

Whosoever is an enemy to Allah and His Angels and His Messengers, to Jibreel (Gabriel) and Mikaeel (Michael), then verily, Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers. (Qur’an, 2:98)

  1. Angels have their own attributes (including wings) and sizes, but can appear in the shape of men as did Jibreel (the Angel Gabriel) who brought revelation to the Prophets.

All Praise belongs to Allah, the Maker of the Heavens and the Earth, Who employs the Angels as messengers, with two, three or four wings. (Qur’an, 35:1)

  1. The Angels pray for the Believers, witness their pious deeds and give support and protection to them.

When your Lord revealed to the Angels, “I am with you, so give support to those who believe…” (Qur’an, 8:12)

…and the Angels glorify the praises of their Lord and ask forgiveness for those (Believers) on Earth. (Qur’an, 42:5)

  1. The Angels curse disbelievers and send destruction to disbeliving nations by Allah’s permission.

Verily those who disbelieve, and die while they are disbelievers, it is they upon whom is the Curse of Allah and of the Angels and of Mankind combined. (Qur’an, 2:161)

  1. Some Angels are assigned to supervise foetuses in the womb and begin writing their records at four months.

“… the Angel writes all of this (whether male or female, doomed (to Hell) or blessed (for Heaven), its provisions and its lifespan) while the child is in the womb of his mother.” (Hadith)

  1. Two Angels are assigned to every person to record his/her lifes’ entire deeds.

When the two recording Angels record the deeds of Man, one sitting on the right and the other on the left… (Qur’an, 50:17)

  1. Some Angels are assigned to question the dead in their graves and some to remove their souls.

And He is the Supreme over His slaves, and He sends guardians to watch over you, until when death comes to any one of you, Our messengers (Angels) take his soul, and they never fall short of their duty. (Qur’an, 6:16)

  1. Some Angels are assigned to control the rains, vegetation and provisions by Allah’s permission.

And by those Angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord. (Qur’an, 79:5)

And those who distribute (provisions of rain and other blessings) by (Allah’s) Command. (Qur’an, 51:4)

  1. Some Angels are assigned to carry out tasks in Heaven and others in Hell.

And the Trumpet will be blown… (Qur’an, 39:68)

And eight Angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. (Qur’an, 69:17)

And they (inhabitants of Hell) will cry: “O Maalik (i.e. the Angel supervising Hell)! Let your Lord make an end to us.” He will say: “(Nay!) Verily, you shall abide (herein) forever.” (Qur’an, 43:77)

If this is the case what happened in Ibliss's (Satan) case, why he was disobediant?

I see discrepency. can somebody please explain to me.....

Re: 10 Facts about Angels

Iblees is A Jinn, not an angel.

This concept of "a fallen angel" is taken more so from the biblical concept. In fact the name "azaazeel" is commonly understood as the name of Iblees before he was condemned and kicked out of the heavens. Some scholars in Islam have used ayats 7:11, 38:73, 74 to claim that iblees was an angel because he was "among the angels." and he was commanded to prostate, just as the angels were. However, in the Noble Quran (7:12 & 18:50) it is stated clearly, that Iblees was one of the jinn. Further, the word "fasajadoo" begins with the letter "faa" which indicates a cause, or reason for a particular action. As mentioned in the Quran, Iblees is not the father of all jinn, he "one of the jinn" (Quran 18:50).

& Allah knows best.

^:k:

Yeah Satan was from amongst the spirit creation called the Genies, who Allaah created from smokeless fire, some of them are Muslims and they are good believers whilst others are Kaafir (disbelievers) and they are the demons/devils and Satan is their cheiftain.

Re: 10 Facts about Angels

fact ( P ) Pronunciation Key (fkt)
n.
Knowledge or information based on real occurrences: an account based on fact; a blur of fact and fancy.

Something demonstrated to exist or known to have existed: Genetic engineering is now a fact. That Chaucer was a real person is an undisputed fact.
A real occurrence; an event: had to prove the facts of the case.
Something believed to be true or real: a document laced with mistaken facts.
A thing that has been done, especially a crime: an accessory before the fact.

Law. The aspect of a case at law comprising events determined by evidence: The jury made a finding of fact.

First of all the title of the thread is wrong since presence of angels is a belief or theory not proven by any means so these are not FACTS.

Re: 10 Facts about Angels

^ Excellent observation for an Athiest.

However, Quran is factual - since it contains no errors. Therefore, one can easily assume that the so called "theories" are correct and facts.

Re: 10 Facts about Angels

Well this is the Yousaf Ali translation which clearly says;

002:034 And behold, We said to the angels: “Bow down to Adam” and they bowed down. Not so Iblis: he refused and was haughty: He was of those who reject Faith.

Clearly in this translation it has has been suggested that all the angels were commanded and Iblis refused.

Re: 10 Facts about Angels

So if a man comes to somebody and says he is an angel how can it be confirmed. Is there any special Nishaani the angel will be carrying.

Re: 10 Facts about Angels

yes he was given the status of angel and therefore Quran further explains:

:bism:

18:50 Behold! We said to the angels, “Bow down to Adam”: They bowed down except Iblis. He was one of the Jinns [Kaana Min Al Jin], and he broke the Command of his Lord. Will ye then take him and his progeny as protectors rather than Me? And they are enemies to you! Evil would be the exchange for the wrong-doers!

Re: 10 Facts about Angels

Ok maybe it was not written right the first time, was confusing, and it was explained later.
And of course the answer as always is God does what is best in his eyes.
