No, I did not defend anyone, If an Arab marries only to gratify himself, under the guise of nikaah, and using his wealth, then I agree with the following people the report mentioned:
Most Qazis solemnise these sham marriages in complete violation of Islamic principles of nikaah and talaaq.
...and I wholeheartedly condemn it.
The point I made was if we are concerned about the exploitation of the young and poor, then there are bigger fish to fry.
