1 in 10 Brits now live abroad

An estimated 5.5m British people live permanently abroad – almost one in 10 of the UK population. The emigration of British people has happened in cycles over 200 years. The trend is now rising again: some 2,000 British citizens moved permanently away from the UK every week in 2005.

Australia is the number one destination.
40% of Britons living abroad are professionals.
17.5% are retired.

In the next 5 years another 1 million Britons are expected to leave the UK to live abroad. India, Thailand and China are the new up and coming destinations for ex-pats.

Comment:

Even the native Brits whose ancestors lived in these shores for thousands of years have finally come to the same conclusion which Muslims came to back in the 50s and 60s that Britain is a morally bankrupt, crime ridden, and disgusting society. Hence the reason why these people in huge numbers are moving out of the UK.

People only think of themselves in the hedonistic pursuit of individual happiness regardless of the consequences upon their health and others in society. Drugs, alcohol consumption, sexually transmitted diseases, illegitimate kids, single parents, neglect of the elderly, racism, wanton violence etc is always on the increase from year to year.

We as Muslims living in this society have been affected by many of these illnesses, although on a micro level, thank god.

The reasons for such animalistic behaviour are due to the system of ruling in this country. A System which protects the freedom of people to behave as they wish and denies the existence of a creator and the afterlife, hence this life is all that matters.

Non-Muslims ask us to integrate and become part of their society, in other words become like them. No Muslim will heed this call; even the most messed up ones Islamically will reject such a call and wish to bring up their children to be good practicing Muslims.

Also the points i have made about the west are facts which no one can deny.

These problems also exist in every single Muslim country, but the difference is that in the west they are accepted as being part of the society and not really seen as problems due to their way of life allowing it to exist in the first place. In the Muslims countries the majority of Muslims see them as being wrong from the perspective of Islam and many Muslims are working to change the situation.

Muhammad saw also lived in a non-Islamic society but he worked to change it into an Islamic one. Today we have Muslims living in the west and east who dont discuss, debate and speak out against the corruption that they see for fear of being labled an extremist and fearing the creation more than the creator.

I personally speak against the corruption in the west and the east regardless of the consequences fearing only Allah swt, no matter how much the disbelievers may mock and some Muslims may find it funny to scrutinise my actions, but failing to look at themselves and speak against the corruption which exists all around.

May Allah swt forgive people who say things based on ignorance and guide all of to the straight path and give us the courage and sincerity to speak against the evil as the evil and call for the truth as the haq.

My final dua is Al ahmdu lilahi warabbil alamin.

Dude, learn about a society before you make verbose comments on it.

A large majority of British people that live aboard are retirees. Old people whose British Pounds when you convert them to other currencies can go a long way than living in Britain. Spain, South Africa and Australia are top destinations because they are hot, sunny countries and retirees want to spend their remainder of their lives in a sunshine paradise.

2nd of all, with Globalization a large number of british corporations have overseas operations and that means a large number of british nationals have to work overseas to run those companies.

Its simple geographical trends, politics and social economics.

i dont think british people are leaving the country because of its crime or other situation stated. counteries they have moved to, if you see more closer are those who provide better sunshine and well being.

most of the brits moved abroad is because of weather with cheaper cost of living.
now twisting this tale toward ills of western socities is not right! cause they are more or less same in the coutries they have moved to.

no doubt we believe our faith Islam is the greatest in the world. all we need to inspire others with this. not imposing everything upon them. UK provide such freedom of expression that as minority you will not get in any Muslim country. yet we bash britain. The are tolerent to us, we are not generally.
living in their country yet each and every thing of their culture we love to hate?? we should be good guests and respect their beleive as they give us respect, open access to practice ISlam and our culture.
I we dont want to integrate with them to some degree keeping our faith, I think then we should move to other countries where we see are more people are like us and same.

many so called practicing muslims here,many of them on benefits from government, consider many laws of the country Haram. yet all they have to bash britain.

UK is not islamic country, its a christiandom.
how many TV channels about christianity allowed in Pakistan or other muslim countries? how easy is to setup a new church or temple in Pakistan or other muslim countries?

on the contrast, in UK we have flocked tv networks with our own cultural and isamic channels without any restrictions? we have almost mosque in every town in UK.

So you wouldnt imagine such freedom even in your original country as you have here in UK. do apperciate it!

you know the words about rashi w'al murtsahi, peope who give and receive bribes are headed towards hell. I guess muslims in general thought the opposite was meant, corruption at all levels is rampant in muslim countries, ghunda gardee, militancy.
lets see what else are we commanded...cleanliness, you know, and then go look at these places. Guess we missed that as well

and there are people, from the countries listed as destinations, moving to UK, not to forget the throngs of desis in line to get visas or trying to enter the place illegally (and then justifying it).. bad weather, cold people and all :)

I agree with the thread starter. Its good that Britons are finally realizing the wrongs in their society and are going to destinations such as Ibiza in Spain (only the most non-hedonistic island in the planet) to get in touch with their spiritual side. Amen to you for seeing the light brother, Amen!

It is one of the most popular tourist destinations for Britons, especially during the summer months, and that place is about nothing but hedonism. So yes, I think it would be safe to assume that my last post was sarcastic.

Ibiza is captial of club and drug world. people are moving soley cause of weather and also people in west want to explore the world so they move is constant.

the reason given its because society evils and crime is just absured. socities they move to are same or above in such evils

Then get out for God's sake! Take your high horse, soap box, insults and holier-than-thou attitude and find a nice Islamic country like Saudi Arabi to install your archaic system. It is their country, their customs, their history and their choice. If they want to move abroad, fine. But you should definitely move back to a place that you don't consider so disgusting.

I have been to Ibiza. Its a Goa and Trance music scene.

Yes there are a lot of drugs but mostly marajuana which lets you experience trance music with a higher level of endorphines

but other than that, its a really cool place

I wonder how long showkot stood in a line to get a Visa to UK on fake grounds and then stayed in UK illegally and now has the nerve to criticize the very country in which he has more opportunity than Pakistan
