Saudi Arabia has no economy other than exporting oil. Its oil supply is gradually shrinking while its population is rapidly rising. Logic dictates this will result in lower living standards for Saudis. How ironic: a nation obsessed with stopping some sex (namely 22 year old unmarried people having sex; things like a 45 year marrying a 12 year old is permissible under sharia) is declining because it can’t control its sexual desires!

My goal is promote the ideas of liberty, democracy, and secularism here and to combat Islamism by showing its true evil and barbaric nature (1,000 lashes!). Since I live in a free country I can say some things people living in terror of Islamists in Pakistan can't.
Reason can post whatever he/she likes whether we agree with it or not.. This isn't a nazi forum or a dictatorship..

Islamists hate free speech for they cannot win in an open marketplace of ideas. This is why they do not allow it anywhere they come into power and why they want to restrict it even on internet sites (remember Pakistan banning Youtube under Islamist pressures because one video criticizing Islam, out of millions on the site, was posted?).

Reason - of all the countries in the world, KSA should be the last one to worry about economy/funds for the foreseeable future. Every living and just born is per capita richer there than most other parts of the world by sheer oil. yeah oil will depete at somepoint but not before Social Security become bankrupt in the US. Saudi royals may be hypocrites and tyrants but they are not fools. Where do you thing Saudi wealth is invested in?
It is heights of irony but in a way KSA is the least islamic of the current bunch of so called islamic countries -
they are wealthier than almost all others
they rarely suffer have terrorist attacks (yet osama is from there!)
they are closest to the USA - even closer in respects than Israel (whether Bush or Obama!)
they're teh seat of Mecca yet they get along better with the non-islamic West and the East better than almost anyone else
they are Wahabi yet war on terror doesn't affect them at all

Another thing I realized a while back was that in Saudia, if a thief is found, they cut their hands in accordance to the surah in the Qur'aan, forgot which one it was. In reality, in that surah there were 13 reasons to be fulfilled for them to cut the hands off.

The Saudi royals will remain wealthy but this may not always be the case for the rest of the population. In any event, wealth is a relative measure. If per capita wealth plummets due to an exploding population the public will be aware of their decline relative to the previous generations and this would create a chance of destabilization of the country.

The Social Security issue is overstated. When the time comes taxes will be raised, benefits limited, or a combination of both. Politicians just won't do it until they are forced to, as they were in 1983 when Social Security was on the precipice of bankruptcy (they raised taxes and the retirement age).

That is because they are disingenuous. They preach and export hatred to the West in general and the USA in particular yet do business with the West/USA on the other hand.
They are Wahabbi and ultimately the war on terror will not be won until Saudi Arabia stops promoting Wahabbism around the world (Look at what Wahabbism has done to Pakistan!). The US has made a serious mistake by ignoring this in our war on terror and relations with Saudi Arabia.

Strong and sustainable systems can never be built upon values such as suppression, oppression, fear, hypocrisy; irrespective of how "solid" they look on the outside. My family is settled here in KSA for more than past 4 decades and trust me, this system is built on extremely wrong values.
Al-Sauds enjoy a great friendship with the US/UK. This partnership actually goes back to the last century when the British used the Al-Saud, a Najidi tribe (who were the most notorious tribe, well known for looting, raping, and destroying- basically Bedouin decoits) aiding them financially and with weapons to topple Sharif Hussain of Mecca and take over Hejaz (read history for more interesting details. One good read is: Two faces of Islam by Stephen Schwartz).
