Re: 00yee chak dey phattee!
traditional charpai is made of wood. the frame atleast. then the actual hammocky part is made of jute. maadrun charpais are made out of steel, the frame, and the hammocky bit is made out of plastic ribbons. pretty thick ones too. but the plastic ribbons don’t creak like the wooden ones ![]()
in the old days the houses were mud houses. they had to re-mudofy it every day. just one of the duties of the women of the house. roofs were made of wood. these days, everything is made out of bricks. the roofs too. our house has those thick beams that support the roofs. so pretty :jano:

Re: 00yee chak dey phattee!
Roofs in Villages are made off "shahteer" ( which can be also found in one's eyes as per Urdu Muahawaraat) and balay and, instead of cement, mud is used and all together this combination minimize the heat affects of summer.
There is another important device called "par-nala", it is pointed in the street and one who can afford they point it right in the middle of the street. the purpose of this device is to wet those who are trying to save them selves from rain in monsoon or any rainy day.
Charpa'i on the other hand is made of either wood or steel, it is a multi-purpose device, u can use it as a dining table, is also used as center of point of crisis solving commitee for thinking and negotiating, last not least for the purpose of checking the character of the person sleeping on it.

Roofs are made out of mostly shateers (wooden logs) and Gara (mud). Manjis are made out of wood and baan (some form of jute), some are made of wood and very strong piles of cloth (nawaar).
