Zardari a London graduate: PPP

LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari is a graduate from London, said PPP spokesman Farhatullah Babar. “He (Mr Zardari) is a graduate from the London School of Economics and Business Studies. You can check it on our party’s website,” said Mr Babar, responding to a question from Daily Times regarding an article in the New York Times which shed some doubt over Mr Zardari’s B Ed degree.

A report published in the New York Times by Jane Perlez on Tuesday says, “In the early 1970s, Mr Zardari went to London.” It says that while there, he “attended the London School of Business Studies and received a Bachelor of Education degree. His official biography says he attended a commercial college called Pedinton School. But a search of tertiary educational institutions in London showed no such school, and associates said he did not finish his studies.”

Perlez goes on to write, “The question of whether Mr Zardari has a university degree” is relevant “because President [Pervez] Musharraf introduced a law in 2002 that made it compulsory for parliamentary candidates to hold a degree in order to qualify for electoral office.” She wrote, referring to “expectations among his political colleagues and in the Pakistani news media that Mr Zardari will run for parliament so that he can then assume the post of prime minister”.

However, the article also states that when asked about his degree, Mr Zardari said, “I do have a degree. That is not an issue.” According to Perlez, “He said he attended the London School of Business Studies ‘much before I was married. I think it’s a B Ed degree. I haven’t really looked at it,’ he said.”

Amin Fahim is the President and head of PPP Parliamentarian in Parliament. What I think is Zardari is doing all politics of deception to do something so that he gets to the Prime Minister seat (that I believe is impossible). Actually, what I believe, Zardari is not even a graduate that he would ever qualify to contest election. Situation is same with NS that he could not become Prime Minister. For Zardari to qualify for contesting election and NS to ever become Prime Minister, constitution need changes and for that parties does not need only 2/3 majority in National Assembly but also in Senate.

Anyhow, other than above constitutional problems in front of NS and Zardari, both are convicted from court and would not be allowed to contest election anyhow. At present a big drama is getting played by those in real power, and both Ganjas (along with their party men) plus Zardari are having real good wet dreams.

I really believe that, soon President would call Assembly and would ask the Parliamentary leader of PPP, Amin Fahim to form the government and take vote of confidence as Prime Minister. Amin Fahim is having bad time with PML(N) so he would ditch PML(N) in cold water and would call PML to join the party and form government in Pakistan, Punjab, Balochistan, NWFP, and Sindh. Reason is that, joined together PPP + PML together have majority in Pakistan National Assembly as well as in all provincial Assemblies except NWFP, where if PPP(Sherpao) joins them in NWFP than they would have majority there to form the government too (though I believe that coalition would include ANP there). Thus together present setup could be:

PPP + PML(Q) and their past allies along with some independents would have enough members in National assembly as well as senate to get to that 2/3 majority to do anything they like in Pakistan, including changing constitution completely

Since PPP under Amin Fahim would not have any problem with President as well as no reason to do anything against what has already happened, Pakistan would have a strong government for next 5 years under President as it was expected before BeNazir died.

Though, I do not know but my guess is that there is big possibility that what I wrote would happen and wet dreams of many corrupts would go in the gutter soon. Let wait and see, as what I wrote is only a possibility. :).
