Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

have you had either of the above done?

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

true. someone like waheeda rehman or meryl streep have aged gracefully....with possible minimal stuff done....id rather not look like a plastic madonna

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

it's acceptable in many areas in the USA too...calif for example.

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

I went for electrolysis...attended 6 out of 12 sessions. It's way too painful, besides I don't have much facial hair. I went for it only coz I think plucking/threading is not liked in Islam (thanks for Stoppit to bringing this to my attention).

I have stopped threading my eyebrows coz I think natural shape makes me look real (I have naturally good shaped eyebrows)...threading them makes me look like someone out of Starplus dramas.

I also did the peels...but it didn't make any difference to my skin. Perhaps I didn't need it in the first place.

So this is it. :/

I don't think I can be of any benefit to surgeons, botox and filler sellers.

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

One more thing I'd want to say...ladies do whatever you want to maintain yourselves but please don't inject your lips with fillers or whatever they use. It totally totally looks horrible. Elissa got it done and looks like a wasp stung her lips.

Also, I don't like eye-bags and some people get them before they're even in 40s...so I think for them it's okay, in fact, they should do something about it if the procedure isn't too painful or have any side effects.

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

Nope. I have not.

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

....and crrrriinngggggeeeee.

Now I'm even more motivated to eat healthier and move my butt. Nutrition has 100 percent to do with (okay and genes) but mainly what you eat has to do with how your body ages, skin and hair included. Like someone said, major life trauma, injury, accident etc is one thing but prevent aging? For how long? Isn't it more important at that stage just to be able to climb the stairs on your own, get off the bed in less than 10 min and be major ailment-free? So yeah thus far, no thank you but I don't care who has/hasn't done it - if it's on other people, I can turn a blind eye even if I secretly cringe inside.

I don't need no damn cosmetic surgery. I was recently asked by Saudis to leave their country. I am that damn handsome

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

Not my cup of tea.

At the end it is a personal decision. I kind of feel sorry for certain people who resort to extreme measures because they don't feel comfortable the way they look and it's usually the media causing all this ruckus and defining what 'true beauty' is... I say EFF OFF to the media and be happy with yourself.

LOL... I do sound like a right girl...

I suppose its probably to do with someone I know who had all sorts of crap done. Still a depressed soul.

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

^nah...just used figurative speech to show how proud i am that a man thinks that way!

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

What this woman said. If you need a tummy tuck, well just eat less and exercise more. Cosmetic surgery is for those who would like to take the easy way out. You are who you are and plastic surgery is literally skin deep.

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

hmmmm!!! hair growth :chai: :hmmm:

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

Gotta love this place. Try asking about getting a tattoo and everyone will strike upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger, you will be bombarded with ahadith which ironically also forbid plucking eyebrows. But cosmetic surgery is all fine and dandy. What is wrong with looking 50 when you are 50? Read a few threads, and you will find lies much smaller in scale have everyone advocating divorce. And don't you dare judge anyone who gets a boob job, you can judge MILs though, so that evens out. God I Frickin' love this place.

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

^ Why are you getting so riled up about people giving their opinion. You can disagree and say why without freaking out and accusing people in this way -- especially since you haven't done some sort of careful study to make sure the same users are replying in all the threads you've mentioned.

Anyway, I do not like the idea of plastic surgery. I don't support it. I can understand the desire for it, but I would not want to start down that road, as I feel it gets too hard to judge what is "too much" and also shifts our priorities to more superficial qualities. I would discourage anyone I care about from pursuing this.

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

Much more respectfully put and totally agreed.

Re: Your opinion on cosmetic procedures

Riled up? Not the word I would use. Let’s just assume that I was riled up, would I have expressed my love for this place? Twice? For perspective, that is twice more than I have said that to a real person. It’s entertaining, I mean fictitious novel and movie characters with their fictitious hypocrisy and their fictitious shallowness, no matter how wonderful they are, have nothing on real people with their real hypocrisy and real shallowness. Think of me as a thoroughly entertained audience, think of what I write as a social commentary. And hypocrisy just so happens to be one of my favourite topics, you know like you getting riled up about me for expressing my opinion. :flower1:
