My relationship with co-workers is awesome!. One of my best friend works with me..so we basically have fun everyday. And these two chicks..we all go for lunch or meet up at coffee in the morning before we all head up..upstairs to our offices. Makes my workplace go smoothly!.
About a year ago..when i used to work for community as a volunteer - teacher..i would go out for lunch with couple of fellow teachers every saturday. Used to be most awesome experience ever coz we would joke around and have good time.
I see them 24/7 for 6 weeks at absolute minimum. It takes a lot out of all of us but we get along really well. We cook together, watch TV together. Usually take a 3 to 4 hour personal time break every day.
One of my best friends is my co worker. And maybe talk to like 3-4 others on a personal basis, the rest are just drones in the office, like I am to them.
socialise with them all the time outside of work - ive made some really close friends from work. Of course theres always gonna be the select few you dont get on with but for the most part im pretty cool with all my co workers
Keep it minimum and make sure not to indulge into any stupid conversation regarding religion, politics or family during the break time. One day you'll become a Manager.
Had a very friendly relation with colleagues in my previous office but that does call for uncalled issues so in this job I refrained from making any friends and kept it professional.
I have a good working relationship with my colleagues and I do joke around with them, ain't got no friendships though. I like to keep it nice and professional, plus can't get too close to people given my line of work. Socializing is limited to office parties, and once I am done for the day I like to go back home and spend time with the family and doing my own thing.
I socialize with people at work, including after hours for drinks and dinner etc
and some of them end up being friends. Some of it started from consulting days when you saw the same damn dozen people in some awful town 4 days a week, without knowing another soul in some center of civilization like butte montana or sioux falls south dakota :D
desis chic as from work end up cutting me out of the equation and becoming pals with begum.
as far as friends go, we even do weekend stuff together, like tailgating at some ball game or just kicking back and watching football together with some bbq.

.
Do they cut you out or you cut them out :D
At my first few jobs, I did socialize with coworkers and was very chatty with some of them....after a really bad experience with one "work friend", I learned to keep to myself, so now I'm friendly but I try my best to keep the "personal" talk to a bare minimum.
