Your concept of Life after Death!

Re: Your concept of Life after Death!

Welcome Queen_24 :) I'd be glad to answer any more questions that you might have to the best of my ability.

Re: Your concept of Life after Death!

i have a question. if that is what hindus believe, what does brahma vishnu shiva etc do? and what is narak/swarg etc?

Re: Your concept of Life after Death!

The non-Vedic religions preach that this is the only life and after this life, we wait in our grave for the day of judgment and on that day we are either sent to hell or heaven forever. This means that for the sinners there is no second chance, as they will go to hell forever. They also preach that those who don’t follow their religion will go to hell forever.

According to the Vedic scriptures, there is hell, heaven, and something beyond them, the spiritual universe called Vaikuntha. Hell and heaven are temporary but the spiritual universe is permanent.

After this life the sinners will take birth on one of the hellish planets and after their punishment is over they will again return to this or other Earthly planets in a suitable body (human or animal) and conditions of life (rich, poor, diseased, healthy etc..).

After this life the pious will take birth on one of the heavenly planets and when their pious credit is over, they will again return to this or other Earthly planets in a suitable body (human) and conditions of life (rich, poor, diseased, healthy etc..).

After this life those who are god conscious will take birth in the spiritual universe, Vaikuntha, and will never return to the material world unless they really want to. There is no death, no disease, no anxiety, no taxes, no killing (no meat), no sex, no speculation, and no intoxications in the spiritual universe.

Re: Your concept of Life after Death!

As i know there is nothing called narak. its only swarg or back to earth :( (Btw when they say earth, they mean the mortal world , which is the entire physical universe. More speceficily it is called Mratulok [world of death])

concept of narak came very late after introduction of other cultures in india.

For rest of the info i think honeybee is best person.

Re: Your concept of Life after Death!

Peace honeybeez,

Pardon me if you don't mind, may I request for the direct links of verses (scripture text) from "Yama Samhita, Padma Purana, Anushasana Parva, Vedas, Upanishads", as I'm unable to exactly related to 'life after death'. I would like to read more.

Thanx :)

Re: Your concept of Life after Death!

^^ I dont think things work that way in hinduism. Unlike quran which is considered a book from god, in hinduism there is no such thing. so believing in things on the basis of verses doesnt exist.

I have never seen someone quoting a verse from religious book to prove a point.

Re: Your concept of Life after Death!

Narak/Swarg is the intermediate abode of a soul before being reborn into another living form. Whether you are reborn as Amoeba or a blue whale depends on your karma in past life. Souls that are subjected to Narak/Swarg still have a long way to go before they attain Moksha.

Re: Your concept of Life after Death!

As I said before, Sanatana Dharma is not a fixed curriculum. It is not like, you have one book, read it, by heart it, and quote it. Life has never been so very straight forward...so isn't the study of dharma. People spend their entire lives to learn just the gist of the vedas, upanishads, and the puranas. If you would like to read more, the references I quoted are enough to keep you occupied for the next 5 years at least :)

I am not a vedic scholar, though I do come from a family of pundits. However I shall do a little more research for you to get you the best of the references that I can in a few days.

Re: Your concept of Life after Death!

Re: Your concept of Life after Death!

Aren’t all religious beliefs blind faith though - whether you follow what your forefathers did/said or follow whats written in a book ? :konfused:
