Your Art Work & belongings

Re: Your Art Work & belongings

Where were you been? Long time no see...

Re: Your Art Work & belongings

So you are already called for.
Too bad for GS bachelors, not that there are any quality guys on GS. :p

Also I think you look like a Pakistani model/actress who is a good friend of model ZQ.
I forget her name.

Re: Your Art Work & belongings

I’m a silent reader nowadays :hypo:

Re: Your Art Work & belongings

I didn't know who ZQ is, just googled her. I think she's pretty. Let me know which friend you're talking about. I'll keep my google handy.

Re: Your Art Work & belongings

@Faris_Udeen Are these mostly handmade? Who are your potential customers? Gotto be some sardars I presume

Re: Your Art Work & belongings

All items are handmade, they have to be to get into Britian these days.

They are made exclussively by myself and others, generally for swords I design them and commision the pieces from makers all around the world. Same for Armour but my Bows, daggers and arrows and other lighter pieces I make my own.

Vast majority of my collections are Islamic, Indo-Persian or Turko-Mongol in origin. Although I also have Chinese, European, African and Japanese arms and armour collections.

Sardars tend to have very little at this level, though I have had the pleasure of competing against and learning from some of the best among them. Nidal Singh for example is a lot older than me, but doesnt practice half the stuff I do.

In fact Sikh traditional Martial arts like Gatka are in decline but at least they have a presence much stronger than our Historical martial arts in Pakistani Kashmir and North West. I can only think of Muka and tent pegging as being some of the last refuges we have in common parlance.

Perhaps someday when I get back to Pakistan again I could set up something more permanent. For now I have a free fighting school in Britain as well as attend other events and displays around the country. As far as I know I am one of only two Pakistani's that even practice tournament fighting. Though there are a lot more Iranians who are perhaps the most thorough in thier systems and organisation. I was instructed in Berlin for a little while by Iran's leading specialists in historical weapons and fighting. The Turkish and Malaysian groups are also pretty strong, but in India and Pakistan theres very little really. Most traditional arts are in serious decline. While elsewhere around the World things are being revived. As a Global community though the HEMA, HMB, BoTN, ACL and others make up amybe no more than 10,000 practictioners. Archers are even more rare, but with time hopefully things will be better.

Re: Your Art Work & belongings

so you really own a sword...

Re: Your Art Work & belongings

Not just one but dozens of them yes. Live Steel as well as blunt trainers and the armours to go with… quite a collection. These are just a couple of the latest additions.
