Re: Younis Khan rejects Pakistan Captaincy (see post 101)
I don't detect any indecisiveness on Younis's part. He had always been very clear from day 1 that he did not want to be a dummy captain. If anything the PCB initially seemed reluctant to accept certain conditions (we don't know exactly what those conditions were but I think Younis had every right to demand to know what the exact job description was) set by him only to change their minds and offer him full powers later but by then he had already made up his mind. The reaction in Pakistan post WC debacle seems also to have dissuaded him from accepting the job.
"I am still hurt and upset at the sort of hostile reception we have got since returning from the World Cup. I have always given 100 percent for my country. But when your family gets threatening calls and our effigies are burnt and our pictures put on donkeys, then I can't lead the team in such circumstances."
I think Younis is right. If people are going to start threatening your family everytime you lose as captain then it's not worth it. Your family should always come first.
well said. I think Younis khan has witnessed how defeat is treated in Pak. Nothing comes before family and i am very sure that he must have gone through really bad stuff to make his final decision. It is sad, how could any one question his passion for cricket and his loyalty to his country. It is very evident from his body language in the field. Some times things go your way and some time they dont. I think Pak athletes do a great job provided with the facilities they have. But its really sad how the careers end for such great servers of the country.
