Agree with you on giving shaoib more responsibility to get most out of him, but if i want to groom a VC for future than even with what Malik did wrong in trowing that game, i wouldnt look boyond him. He to me offors someone who has the mental strength to handle the future captaincy of Pak.
agree that Pak will miss inzy as batsman, but overall i think its a blessing in disguise as younis is getting to lead Pak in this tournament. which is good for Pak team future

One pretty much expected Younis Khan to take over the reign after the recent diplomatic approach by the ICC. As for the appointment of vice-captain, I am in agreeance with those who have mentioned either Razzaq or Akhtar as potential selections, simply because of the reason of assurance of their places in the team. Both are regulars on any given day and should be awarded the opportunity to lead the team in the near future. Malik, on the other hand, is just beginning to find his form back after coming back from an injury, which makes his place in the team all more susceptible. Once he gets his groove back and becomes a regular, one would expect that he would assist Younis Khan in his captaincy role, but until then, the former two would be my primary and leading choices.
However, a major no-no to Iftikhar (whichever form that he might be previously seen in)!

This is exactly what Younis Khan and his fans were looking for, this is the time for him to shine. All the best to him, I hope he shines both as a bastmen and captain because it will most certainly make the case for him to become captain.
I do not see a place of Malik in the series, when we have Razzaq, Afridi, Hafeez. Faisal should come in place of Inzamam, in my opinion, he will be more reliable and will be able to play steady inngs with Younis and Yousuf.

If only Shoaib had kept his act together in the first few years of his career, he would be the lone choice for captain right now. Anyways, Younis as captain is perfectly fine. Akhtar should be his deputy.

never say no, no to anyone. Weren't people saying no no to hafeez as well. Personal bias should not come in the way of what is good for the team. Only one criteria, what is good for Pakistani team.

Rao Iftikhar is at best a mediocre bowler. Heck even Sami has had his moments here and there. We have a strong bowling attack. Shoiab Akhtar, Mohammad Asif, Rana Naved & Umur Gul should be the first choice. Shahid Nazir, Rao Iftikhar and Mohammad Sami can fight out for the next line but I wouldnt pick Rao Iftikhar over Gul. Personally I think Gul is a much better fast bowler.
As far as people going for Shoaib Malik as captain, the only problem is his position in the side. He was very off color during the England tour and with Razzaaq and Afridi already in the team the place for another all rounder is always going to be threatned. He is in the team ahead of specialist batsmen cause he gives the captain another option in the bowling department plus he is an excellent fielder. But nothing to show for as a batsman in the recent tour I believe his place in the side is under threat. I actually fell bad for him cause his batting position has being rotated so many times it really isnt funny. While it makes sense to play Younis at the one down position, but while Shoaib Malik occupied that spot he really didnt do anything wrong to be taken off that position. He played really well at number 3 and now he is being asked to either open the innings or play down at number 5 or 6 so his batting position has been a guessing game for everyone. He is a decent off spinner, who I think has been under used recently. He can stop the flow of runs plus he chips in with handy wickets if given a chance. Still for the position of deputy for Younis I would go with Razzaq (to groom him) or Akhtar (to give him extra responsibility).

Akhtar should be the VC. He's the most senior among the players, walks into any side, (ODI and Tests) and has shown extraordinary commitment in the recent past. He should be made the vice captain now to see how he fares in the position.

^^ Although I wont mind Akhtar being the VC, he is not the senior most player in the side. Razzaq and Afridi both have more seniority then Akhtar.

Afridi is senior to him but I don't think Razzaq is (in terms of when they first came into the national side). And then again, these two are not picked consistently into the side in both forms of the game. A captain or vice captain would have to find a place in the side first.

I agree that Gul is a better bowler than Iftikhar. The only reason I prefer Iftikhar to Gul in ODI's is that Iftikhar is a better batsmen and a reasonably good bowler.

Afridi as vice-captain is out of the question. Shoaib made a name for himself much before Razzaq had done so. Hence, he should be vice captain.

The people who are naming the following three are keep forgetting the following facts.
Razzaq is a quiet guy with not so great leadership skills. He is a good workhorse but not a leadership material. Plus he is so soft for the job, same as MoYo.
Afridi does not have a permenant place in Tests, neither he looks (or ever looked) serious for the game. He does have some cricketing skills in terms of field placement and to pressurize the oponents, also that he is aggressive by nature, but he fails to inspire others cuz of his non-sense approach ( usually in batting, sometimes in field/dancing/swearing).
Shoaib Akhtar can't be a good captain, simply because he will be off for two series after shining in one. This one reason is far more than enough to keep him concerntrate on his actual job. Plus, he seems to have learned the strategic bowling (which is his primary job) after 8 years in International cricket (we are talking about consistency and dominance he has shown in Eng/India series earlier this year). If it took this long for him to become a thinking bowler (as many commentator praised him in last 10 months), what kind of captain's skills he would have keen to learn. Ask yourself.

We won series with Inzamam and Yousuf in place or when Younis was a vice captain, I do not think he made majority of decisions. Younis as a captain will work and he probably will not be needing much help from vice-captain. Team, we have got is really good.

Malik as VC? So he can throw matches for the national team? I know he made one mistake, but thats how standards are set. If a player commits such mistakes then they sud not be given any position of authority, period. And, Maliks place in the test side cannot be guaranteed given his competition with Afridi and Razzak.
When Yunus Khan is being appointed Captain then focus for the future captain is bit premature, having said that if a future captain is to be considered then focus should be on players like Hafeez.
