Seriously? If I do yoga and am not Hindu, and don’t believe in it, does that mean I am committing some kind of sin? I’m just exercising, not worshiping the sun.

There’s a big difference between going through the rituals and actually believing in a religion. Yes, yoga does stem from Hinduism and I realize a lot of people practice it as a religion but the way it’s taught and practiced in most studios in the west is hardly how it was originally practiced as a form of religion. To most people it’s just exercise that also allows you to pause and reflect for a few minutes; a form of meditation if you will.

And I realize a yogi might be offended that people use yoga just for exercise but that’s a reality. And there are proven benefits of yoga, I know that some NFL players practice it to improve their performance.

Sin or not sin is no one to make judgement on something which is not specifically mentioned.

However, the discussion is about weather it is Islamic or not.

One has to be pretty naive not to see that it is not Islamic at all.

As for those who believe with proof it is not islamic, they are correct.

Anyone is free to do whatever he/she likes. Free will.

As for the benefit. I already answered partly. The sports people also use drugs/illegal or harmful substances to enhance their ‘performance’.

Please provide substantial documentation of how many great sportsmen perform (ed) yoga to enhance their perfromance as opposed to those who are/were great ones who still do not.

Anyone can make false claims based on their respective beliefs.

Not sure why people have to be so defensive/ critical or call names to others saying something is not islamic.

Did anyone call bad names to those who do yoga?
